ANA roll call.

The ANA starts one month from today ( August 14-18 ) in Philadelphia. I plan to be there once again. This will make my 49th consecutive summer ANA. I have been looking forward to this show almost since the time that last one ended. If you are anywhere near PHL take the time to attend the show. You will not be disappointed. Who is going to be there?

SAVE UP FOR THE AUCTION !!
I do not mean to hi-jack this thread but I want to attend I just have some questions for members who have attended this numerous times in the past.
Do dealers accept card or is it mainly cash? I am a younger collector so I am used to card transactions. I don't think I have ever carried more than like 100 dollars on my person at once.
Are small packs allowed or even little carry cases(Pelican 1150)? Hell I will even wear a fanny pack. I would rather not have to stuff my purchases in my pockets! I am leaning towards fanny pack just because I like it.
What are some of the better hotels in the area?
Also thank you in advance for anyone answering these, I really appreciate it!
A government accident left me a former man, a potato. That photo on my profile is a low resolution selfie. I like coins.
I'll be there for the duration.

Hey @BustyPotato
I think that pellican is too bulky
Just my thought
A small tuck it under your arm book bag would work
I think the card only would limit your options
"Inspiration exists, but it has to find you working" Pablo Picasso
@BustyPotato I would think cash is king. Cards will limit what and who you will be able to buy from.
I think it will be a great show and plan on being there on Friday,

Very few dealers take a card. Cash or a check with ID and or references works. You will see briefcases, rolling carts and all other ways to carry your notes and items. Come on down!
I'll be there. I take cash, some trades, credit cards and paypal.
Will be there Wed - Fri. Likely will attend the PCGS Luncheon. Hate to turn down a free meal.

Rainbow Stars
I’ll try to be there Wednesday at least. Maybe Thursday
Ill be there the whole week, setting up at table 1050, pretty sure that's it. Treasure Island Coins.
all week, mostly at table 741
With this amount of confirmed attendees, we should have many show reports. Looking forward to all the reports... even day by day reports.....
Cheers, RickO
Cash or CHECK is better than a card. Most dealers will take a check if you have references or will allow them to send you the coin after the check clears.
CASH usually ALWAYS works nicely.
Congrats at such a long ANA show run @golden ! Philly is too far from OKC, should be a great show regardless. Have fun!
One thing that I learned from previous shows was to bring small bills as well. The dealers that I dealt with appreciated it!

Tuesday -Wednesday. I carry a purse, probably not what a dude wants to carry though. I also carry cash, cards, checks, and the occasional bullion bits. This year not so much on the money as mostly I'm going for one of the classes.
Tue - Sat. I'll be helping at Sheridan Downey's table and with his bust half auction.
Lance.
Wednesday & Thursday for me.
First timer.
I'm positive I'll be overwhelmed but I will try to do as much pre-planning as I know how.
Edit: Wrong days....

Dealer would like cash especially if they don't know you. If you are still thinking of a card only approach, then be sure to have 2 forms of ID but like everyone else is saying you will not get the best deals. cards charge 2-4% and then risk that they charge back.
Best place to buy !

Thursday and Friday for me. Can't skip the big show when I get to see family at the same time.
I am going to try to attend since PA will recognize my concealed carry permit.
Probably for only a day or two (max).
Have lots to sell, and not looking for much.

Three weeks to go!
Directly across from the Convention Center is the Reading Market. This is a well-known tourist trap which purports to have authentic Philly Cheese Steaks, freshly baked goods from farm-fresh products grown maybe 60 miles way in Amish country, several varied Oriental stir-fries, maybe three ice-cream specialists and a wide variety of other crap that you usually see on coin dealers' shirts, plus roasted sweet corn on the cob that only has one harvest per summer, which will overlap that ANA week. "They" will tell you this is delicious if slobbered with a few pats of butter, but not about the carbs and lipids that will slow you down on the bourse floor. Do not be fooled by the misguided wretches who exit there smiling, only to find later that there is a dependable Subway a short $6 Uber ride away. It's still quicker than the wait in line for cheese steaks and funnel cakes at the over-rated Reading Market.
They also have scrapple. Many say that they prefer it to haggis because when served fried it doesn't taste like rattlesnake trying to taste like chicken. Just thinking about haggis makes me lose my appetite, I am clearly running out of ideas on how to discourage people from eating there, but if I see you in line, don't say I didn't warn you
.
,
I didn't go there the last show in Philly, and now will definitely avoid it this year.
Thanks

Philadelphia is a great place to have the ANA show. Lots of history there and enjoyable places to visit. I really enjoyed going to the Reading Market with a buddy of mine. His mom used to take him there as a kid since he lived nearby. He’ll be joining me for the show which is even better. I hope to actually be able to hold the 1913 Liberty Head Nickel in my hand during lot viewing. Forum meetup would be welcome. I’ll be there for the first 2 days.
When I was a Boy Scout I wrote away to the Mint in Philly for information.
With my parents help I organized a scout field trip to visit the mint.
When the day came I was stuck home with chicken pox.
Such is life.
If I were in Philly this summer I'd definitely visit the Franklin Institute to see the effect of the earth revolving on its axis.

I'll be there with lots of mint errors for sale. Also buying, so if you've any errors for sale, bring them on by for an offer. (Sullivan Numismatics in the show guide.)
I won't be there because I have to be in Boston the whole week and can't even take a single day to fly over. Will miss this one for the first time in years!! But like Ricko said - hope we see alot of Show Reports from y'all.
Best, SH
One week to go.
I have achieved the unbelievable!
My youngest teenage daughter has agreed to join me there on Wednesday!
of course she has no particular interest in coins at all, but is currently studying Mandarin and is kind of enamored with all things Chinese, (she is a Chinese adoptee). So I guess we'll be hanging out at where ever they have Asian coins.
I will be dropping off another PSGC box of double dimes at the Great Collections table, and looking for rattler proofs.
