Does CAC sometimes require a second trip?

I have a nice early commem I sent to CAC a few months ago. Sadly it didn't sticker. I still think it deserves one. I'm fairly confident that they have in there system that this particular PCGS coin cert Number didn't sticker, so they will know this coin has came through before. Is it worth a second trip to CAC? What's anyone's experience at this been like? Just trying to save myself time and money if there's no chance it will stick on a second go round.

I believe you can ask why a coin didnt sticker.....may help determine whether to try again
Yes, I resubmitted a coin previously submitted and not stickered by the previous owner. I sent it in with my comments on the submission form and it came back CAC approved ~ green. Absolutely no guarantee, but it certainly can happen, Good Luck !
Yes, it is definitely worth it, especially if you feel very strongly about the coin.
I have actually done it myself. Sent in three coins not long ago and told them that they had previously not stickered but would like JA to review them again for reconsideration.
2 out of the 3 stickered.
I have also heard once of a green stickered coin being resent in for reconsideration for a gold sticker, and it was changed to gold. Although, I think that doesn’t happen too often.

I personally have always accepted their opinion on the first go around but I understand that they will discuss with you what prevented a coin from stickering if you call. My advice would be to call first to see if they have notes, if not, resubmit with a brief note outlining your opinion.
Ahhh, reconsideration.
No mistakes.
Reconsideration.
Ahhhh.
Looks at every coin.
Ahhhh.
There are at least a few dealers who will get a coin regraded (to get a new cert number and a chance at upgrade) and then resubmit to CAC. Why wouldn't they? If it works (and it does sometimes), it's much easier to sell and will probably sell for more. As long as there is financial incentive to do it, it will happen.
I've personally asked JA to take a second look at one coin that stickered on the second trip. I thought it deserved it and apparently he didn't disagree. I've had others that earned a sticker after a regrade attempt that didn't have one before. I've even had one coin fail to sticker until it upgraded..... then, no problem.
Keep in mind though that these experiences are outliers. My successes have only been with coins that were pretty darn nice to start with. The most common thing, by far, is that they come back just the same way.
If you really think it deserves a sticker send it in again with a note. If it doesn't sticker, ask why. You might learn something..... or maybe, it will get a sticker.
For some reason, a "new service" concept is forming in my senile mind.
I had the same thing happen to me A NGC 53 upgraded to a PCGS 55. Didn’t sticker as a NGC, but did after being upgraded by our host. Go figure???
It may sticker or not sticker depending whether CAC was willing to buy the coin at the particular moment they saw the coin.

"Sou Mangueira......."
I wish every coin dealer in every town in every state who appraises or looks at coins would somehow MARK the ones he would like to buy since a lot of coin sellers have to get umpty hundred "offers" before they make up their mind and the mark the dealer would use would save him time when they do bring it back after having decided to sell it.
..........deep breath.... wheeewwwwww......
....there.
Now I have no idea how they could mark it. Maybe with a label or something.
Help me out here. What could be a good identifying thing to put on a coin a dealer wanted to buy?
CAC will give it a fresh look. I have disagreed with them in the past and resubmitted a coin for it to bean the second time around.
Agree. The coin market is about money and liquidity.
Who will call them for me and tell them you want a ________________ and will pay BIG MONEY?
luvvit
So are those that don't sticker on the first trip, or the second trip, but then do sticker, worth the premium?
Is this our way of saying that it really is about the holder (and sticker) and not the coin?
A second trip to the refrig to grab a beer...
Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.
It is an opinion. NOT SCIENCE. Opinions can and do change.
Interesting post, thanks for sharing !!!
A question I have is,if you put a note on the form that you are going to sell the coin would that make a difference? And vice-versa.
From reading posts about CAC it seems to me the main reason to get the bean is to resell down the road.
Never submitted to CAC but I do own a few coins with the CAC sticker.
Not an opinion,just a question.
Yes I've had one sticker on second try but another wont sticker on the third try so I think I'll stop there.
As long as grades are opinions, and without standards they always will be, then it is possible a coin will change grades or gain a sticker when reviewed a second or third or fourth time. Grading is the twilight zone of numismatics. Cheers, RickO
I've never used their services . But I would suspect a second trip to them is no different than a third or fourth trip to the big house, in getting what is deserved.
