New Lincoln

crazyhounddogcrazyhounddog Posts: 13,968 ✭✭✭✭✭

I thought it was quite the grade for this one :) I think it's pretty pretty too. My good friend, Las Vegas Ted, pointed this one out to me a while back and I forgot all about it, until just now when I ran across it in one of my boxes. Thanks, Ted :)
Thanks to all for looking too.
Any and all comments are welcome.
Happy hunting, Joe

Is it me, or is that thing a proof? Looks like CAM devices to be. Great look for a MS coin.

That coin, from the photo, can not be a circulation strike. It looks like a proof coin to me, a very attractive toned proof coin. What say you Joe. Is it a proof?

If it is a proof, the label in the slab is a mechanical error.

Yes it is in fact a proof. I was wondering how long it would take before someone chimed in with this particular remark.

It says on the label it's an MS coin. I gotta say I disagree.
    Thanks

    Cause it’s a proof.
Apparently pcgs made some kind of mistake either with the grade or some labeling mishap.

Stunning Lincoln Cent!! And somehow, when I looked at the holder, my mind read PR66RB. I didn't even "see" the mistake until it was pointed out. LOL

I forgot to mention that.. that cent has killer toning.

If it has these die dots on the bridge of his nose - its a proof. And I think I see them on your coin.

Beautiful proof Joe. Nicely toned proofs from 1950-1953 are tough to find.

Proof for sure, I just assumed based on the look; didn't even realize the label said MS.

The icing on the cake is that 1951 is my birth year. Yes I’m an old fart. Old, grouchy and mean as hell. :)

Very nice colors on that proof! So, can you imagine if PCGS got it right and it was a PL business strike??? Now, that would be awesomeness in my book! Of course, I collect PL's so I'm partial... :p

  • crazyhounddogcrazyhounddog Posts: 13,968 ✭✭✭✭✭

Ted is just fine. He’s doing great with his coin collection and is just as happy as can be. He is a close friend of mine and I’m proud to be able to say that about my man, Ted.
Thanks to all for the comments on the business strike that isn’t and thank you, Ted, for pointing this one out to me.

I have actually seen guys with their pants so far down they had to hold them up with one hand.

They would be at a real disadvantage in a fight. ;)B)
