Collecting for under $100 can be super fun, show yours

I have never seen this before but for $15 is sure is very cool. Shows that you don't have to break the bank to collect coins.
This is the size of a CWT and is brass(I think) It also appears to be of that era. If anyone knows what this is please let me know.

Great Thread. PCGS G-6...Trueview and CAC...$90.00. A lot of fun in this coin...

The 1938-D Buffalo Nickel is a really common coin that was saved in qunatity, but this MS-66, which is in an NGC "fatty holder," provides a nice example of the design in the business strike format. This falls into the less than $50 category.
^^ what bill said, and additionally, plenty of raw "short set" buffaloes can be had for under $100, both raw, and graded.

Both of these were under $100, already graded.
Lots of cool world stuff, too.

Bob, that 1909 is some serious eye candy! Sweet!!!
Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.
Free from Daniel Carr, he made each member of the KotCT one of these 51mm pieces. About 50 pieces were made, each different.

Cool !!!

Thank for sharing !!!
This 1940-S, in an NGC67* holder, is not my avatar. My avatar is 1939 in an NGC 66* holder. Both were purchased (already slabbed) on Ebay in 2007 for about 50 each. Since then I have had them cac'ed (freebies at the Coinfest).
Quite a while ago, I found that a coin costing 2 dollars (such as my gem 1938 cent with a rainbow crescent on the reverse, purchased at the Willimantic show in the late 80s) can give me greater satisfaction than the classic commems I used to collect at that time. Good for me and my wallet!
Good night, folks.

I was thinking that too but usually they say it or the half imaitaion of the bust dollars, halves and so forth.
But maybe some of them did have any wording.

Good thread idea, Steph.

In late 19th century England it was illegal to deface English coins, but is was perfectly legal to deface the low denomination French coins that also circulated in England. So, many companies counterstamped French coins.
Perhaps the most common of these is the PEAR'S SOAP counterstamp, and another popular one was EMPIRE THEATRE/IMMENSE SUCCESS. This coin got struck with both counterstamps.

This was a good buy.... and especially when I discovered it was really the D/D/D/S... Cheers, RickO

I legitimately cannot remember the last time I spent more than $100 for a coin purchase, it has been years. Hasn't affected or limited my enjoyment of the hobby in the least.
