My grandma used to be a coin collector she passed away and left me the coins in her will.

God bless her if this is true. Sadly she didn't have an eye for CC Morgans.
Please report both of these if you can, look at the FB, Nice coin thanks, what?

Just look at the Mint mark.
Same garbage I posted in another thread. This is a different seller this time, but I wonder if they are working together. So sorry to be reading about this.
Very sadly.
Both sellers are in Indiana(Elkhart and Middlebury) Don't think it is a coincidence!!! . Someone needs to contact law enforcement.
Wonder if the buyers are also in on it? How could anyone, even with half a brain say, "Thanks nice coin"? No offence to anyone with half a brain, I'm probably right around 3/4.
OP: nice counterfeit
I have reported those two 85cc/reverse of 78, wrong font mint mark coins three times and they are still up.....
sucks that we can't get things taken down anymore.
Did you see he sold one and I reported it long before it sold as well.
Maybe this guy works at ebay?
bob
It looks like the counterfeiter really tried to invoke that old western vibe of CC dollars by making the mint mark look like two horseshoes.
I showed these photos to our cat and he concurs with the above comments-no good. They are that obvious
If I buy a coin on ebay and it's flagged as counterfeit, but arrives at my home, does the onus fall on me to take the financial hit and turn it in? SNAD it and send a counterfeit coin through US post? I never thought of what I'd have to do if one fell into my hands.
I got a fake $20 out of an atm at a casino and had to talk to feds for 30 minutes. I don't want/need those kind of people showing up at my door. And this stuff gets sent through the mail, no less.
No, you do not have to take a financial hit. You will likely have to speak to ebay about how to proceed. On fakes that I've bought from overseas they tell me to just keep it and refund me. On fake bought from US sellers I was forced to return to get my money back. I plead with the US PO not allowing fakes through the mail. They didn't budge, so I offered a compromise: I X cancelled the coin and then sent it back. Used a chisel in the shop....they said okay.

...that story about grandma won’t help them any in the yard
I have an identical 1885 CC counterfeit with the same looking "CC". Sad.
Thank you @AUandAG
Geez, tried to do the 'report item' and fell down a rabbit hole of unsuitable dropdown menus. What do you click to report a counterfeit/fake?
report: copyright...reason: counterfeit
Looks like it is gone now... thanks for the picture in the OP....Cheers, RickO
appears to be still there:

I hate that when somebody beats me to the idea.
Reported.
My Ebay Store
I asked this a few times before but never received a definite answer. So I ask it again:
What does the US law say about actual counterfeits which someone possesses and or circulates or is trying to circulate?
And, is it legal to ship counterfeits through USPS? ( that already implies possession)
can someone quote the respective laws?
I am not talking about the hobby protection act.
@OPA....Thanks...for some reason, the original link did not work for me. Cheers, RickO

Looks like the same coin was sold twice already
anitreime0 still has both listings up, what more does Ebay need to see? I'm not asking about authenticity, I told them flat out they are both fake no argument, no question, period!
Yet another fake from Elkhart, Indiana

Maybe grandma was Chinese..............
Both listings from anitreime0 and 123corne.cn2 are still up n runnin, despite numerous reports for all 3 with detailed explanations. Neither seller has gotten back to me, they know what's up.
Reported but still there.
LOL!!!
...with the smart phone hovering over the very thread calling out this POS as counterfeit, she goes and tosses a effing banner add with the same POS!...Who the hell is running things over there???
What burns my a$$ is that I went the extra mile and explained to Ebay why it's counterfeit, and all 3 of these listing are still running.
It is so bizarre that this guy has 3 positive feedbacks from three distinct bidder for these fake coins, and his lone neutral is an obviously unjust one from someone who was mad his gold plated buffalo nickels weren't made of gold.

Since when is grandma not allowed to collect fakes? Jeez guys, give the old dead lady a break! Lol!
Grandma obviously was making coins in her basement instead of jams and preserves.

Willing to bet that some sellers get their material from Aliexpress then sell em on Ebay.
They have essentially copied every U.S. coin made , you can even buy a 55 DDO Lincoln cent. Better yet, how bout a 55 DDO Lincoln cent off center
What a lousy grandma.

I reported it again...this time my brief explanation was “how do you make a quick buck, buy counterfeit coins on alieexpress and sell as real on eBay”. I don’t think ebay will care to read my comment...
The sellers know full well, lets get real here. If you make no argument, your guilty as far as I'm concerned. To top it off Ebay doesn't give a $hit about buyers being burned and the fact that some of these buyers leave the hobby with a bad taste in their mouth. On a brighter note, I'm going to use their platform to inform and empower buyers by listing counterfeit Morgans with a outrageous BIN. I have 6 fakes coming in the mail, will list them all with detailed macro images and a description as to why it's fake, along with genuine images of MM's and dates. Should make for some interesting fun.
Granny does not approve of lying, foolish boys trying to pass off fakes as hers.
Do not attempt if granny is still alive, or she may apply an old-fashioned beatdown to "get your mind straight."
That CC stands for "Chinese Counterfeit".

Reported four more times.
I've seen this before on eBay and it's a great idea. List a fake with a million dollar BIN so no one will actually buy it and then use the description to help educate new collectors on eBay. After you do this please provide us a link. Thanks.

Thanks, Ebay lets known fake run their course, going to use their platform to try and decrease the demand for them through awareness. If the demand for fakes diminishes the counterfeiters will vanish.
And, if you get really lucky, someone may actually drop the million!
Smitten with DBLCs.
Wondering if my listings will be axed because I'm attempting to educate buyers on their turf?
