It's somewhere between AU 58 and MS 63 depending on how it looks in hand.
Probably not worth getting it graded since it a sub $100 coin in any grade between 58 and 63.
AU-58 to MS sharpness, but the luster is subdued due to toning, old dipping and / or original mint surface. This date tends to come with subdued luster. You really need to see this coin in person.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
I would buy and sell at the same EF grade and at a fair price. You could expect to receive more from me for a real EF than someone with an inferior coin that had an inconsistent "EF" label, or a coin labeled "AU" that was really EF.
For a 1903 there is no spread between EF40 and AU58 so it doesn’t really matter here.
Let me ask a simpler way. I understand you have your own grading system, much like EAC. What do you think PCGS would grade this coin? I think that’s really what people are trying to ask here.

AU58 is my guess. @RogerB - would you be willing to sell this coin (or perhaps a similarly/detailed 1892-S) for EF money?

The free market determines price.

And when I say AU we are talking barely AU, could as easily go XF details
