Two Barber Quarter Newps, post yours.

Desert MoonDesert Moon Posts: 5,992 ✭✭✭✭✭

Hi,
As I acquire quarters for my 2 B Everyman sets, I will post them here as requested by other posters in earlier threads. Here are 2 newps for the 2nd set - barbers. My goal is to have quarters that are P25 to P45 all CAC but prefer they are 45. These are hard to find so the set will likely go through upgrades for quite some time. Primary goal will be O-mint, then all mints and years. Post your worn barber quarters as I would love to see them.

Best, SH

Great Barber quarters, spacehayduke. Here's the only one I own, courtesy of Tom Bush.

Don't get me wrong, I like the OPs coins, but that 97S is fabulous!
After the Big 3 in the set, I think that is #4, as I could never find that higher than VG w/o problems back when I was hunting....yes, I found the 09O and 14S, but not the 97S.

If I get a chance tomorrow, I'll try to post a few - hopefully raw ones are Ok ;)

By the way; great coins everyone! I love Barber quarters and half dollars regardless of if collected by type, date, mint or simply to salt away some great, tough to find coins.

    I just checked,for what it's worth,and it's PCGS price guide so...

The 1897-S quarters in grades 25-30 and 35 have more than doubled in price since 2008

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong :)

When putting together a set of Barber quarters years ago, the 11D was the toughest date for me to find. I eventually found one which was a clone of the one posted by Spacehayduke.

Thanks folks, please feel free to keep posting them nice quarters. As I build this set it is going to get tougher - finding for example a 1901-O and 1909-O with meat and no problems in the worn grades is going to be hard. And then there are the S-mint coins like the stunning 97-S above. This makes the whole series quite challenging. Then there are the 3 biggies that one really has to pay up for - the 96-S, 01-S and 13-S. AT P40/CAC, we are talking around $40K for the 3. So we will see....

    Best, SH

Here is another obtained earlier this year as N45, cracked and got P45, then CACed. A nice purchase from Tom Bush who really knows this series and what a Barber quarter should look like.

The Barber fanatics on the forum got me hooked on these darn things quite a while ago.
Sold off the halves and dimes but kept most of the quarters.
You just don’t see these in the wild anymore....and they were never plentiful. This quarter series is just loaded with hard to find dates....I guess that was the real fascination. Looks like the OP may have been bitten by the same bug. I wished I bought and kept every better date I came across.

I don't have one as of yet, but will at some point. I really like the eagle and the design of the reverse on these coins.
