Buffs of the 1920s for the date set coming along nicely.

clarkbar04clarkbar04 Posts: 4,982 ✭✭✭✭✭

Toned buffs from the 1920s aren't the easiest to find, at sane prices anyway. I have put together a few and am only missing 3 holes in my entire date set; 1921, 24, and 29. (that should be the easiest, right?) My 28 is very upgradable (hence why it is not pictured) and I am also including a 1918 and 1919 I recently added.

The short set is complete.

PCGS MS63

PCGS MS64

PCGS MS63 (coin is much nicer than trueiviews, needs chd images)

PCGS MS63

PCGS MS64 Raw buy

PCGS MS66 (CAC) Raw buy

MS66 taste on an MS63 budget.

The toning is real good! Nice start.

The 1921 should be easy to find nicely struck, and is actually a one-year type coin: The knot was engraved sharper, and it is the only date to have serifs on the Ones in the date.

It's one of my fave dates.

They're all amazing but your '18 is just sick.

Very consistent....I am always surprised at the amount of tarnished Buffs found...I have many.. one drawer in a coin cabinet is filled with 2x2's and not a shade of tarnish on any of them...and the drawers are wood with felt lining...they have been in there for years and years...So, I guess you must have searched long and hard for those coins. Congratulations and good luck with the rest of them. Cheers, RickO

Great collection. Thanks for sharing, although I'll be jealous the rest of today. Those are hard to find. I thought crazyhounddog had them all. lol

that 1919 is very interesting the 2nd leg in front is almost gone at bottom. The opposite leg of the 3 leg later version. Is that a common occurrence?

    thanks,

Guess I don't see what you mean, though I'll point out he is still standing fully upright.

Yes-it's a fairly common occurrence, more to do with the strike or worn dies than any actual abrading of the die.

Did the 1918 start off raw? From a cost perspective, that one stands out a good bit from the rest.

If I had to pick a fave, I'd go with the 1925
