I'll wait for Fred to chime in but me thinks $1,250 for this is exorbitant.

And perhaps it is. Which may be why it hasn't sold. That's what is great about our free market system, and auctions in general. If someone wants it bad enough they will pay the price. But it won't be me.

It kind of looks like a shark tooth or a veliciraptor claw from Jurassic Park. Cool!

My next question: How did this get into circulation?

Interesting piece of copper...and no doubt a mint scrap.... That being said, the price is ridiculous... Cheers, RickO

I wonder if it is one of those "wink - wink errors" that a mint employee made in his spare time and took home in his lunch box. In view of the fact that it is made of copper and not zinc, it must be from 1982 or before.

It's a legit normal error coin, not a 'made on purpose'
    or by accident error coin.

As far as value, others have posted their thoughts
on the price....I don't have anything else to add in that
    area.

Thank you Fred and I can understand you not shooting yourself in the foot as far as value goes.

    I'm about 90% that it's a 1974.
I'd recognize those 1974 steps anytime.
But still a cool "coinlet", and yes, I agree with previous poster who said it looks like a shark tooth.
And yes, I guess this one could have made it through the riddler rather easily.

I am too poor with computers to do what I wanted to do with this.
I wanted to put this fantastic bowtie on a large image of a Lincoln Cent but am too computer-stupid to do it. :)

I guess it would just make it into a cent bag and get shipped out.
