Is a rim clipped AU58 not allowed in an Everyman's collection?

I just purchased a 1920 Buffalo Nickel with a rim clip in a PCGS AU58 holder. When I try to add it to my Everyman's set, it says this coin not allowed in set. I didn't even want the rim clip, but it came with the coin and I did not know it would stop the coin from being allowed in the set. I checked the certificate verification and it is the correct coin. Has anyone else ran into this?

My guess is that since it is classified as a mint error that is causing your pronlem.
There is an option on the screen to ask for this coin to be allowed.
Absolutely not. You must immediately take it out of your collection and ship it to me. I will properly dispose of it.

I seem to recall that errors were generally not allowed in registry sets(?) But that was a long time ago, and may have changed.
I don't know what the theory would be. If you can read the date, it seems like any graded coin should be acceptable....

I see no reason for it to be disallowed. It's a 1920 nickel regardless of any other features.
In a related idea, I've had shield nickel varieties (e.g., DDO) listed as generic coins in a registry set. Had to contact BJ Searles to make it happen, though.

The issue of a coin with a mint error relative to those pieces that don't have them can have an effect on the market price. For very modern coins, mint errors almost always enhance the value. For some classic coins they can lower it.
In this case it might depend on the size of the clip, which is not given on the slab label. Maybe the powers in charge have decided that the clip is too big to be in that registry set. To me a very tiny clip should not make any difference to anyone. A larger one should also not disqualify the coin from the set in my opinion, but that's just my opinion.

If that the case, then I can't see why it would not be eligible.
You cannot have an error coin in your registry set, only in showcase sets.
You can send it back to pcgs and ask them to take the "E" off of the coin number so that it can be used. You'd have to pay a reholder fee though.
That is interesting... Rules are rules, however, I wonder why such coins are not allowed... Cheers, RickO

I could not find such an option. I found this option, "Report a Cert That Should Match This Composite" to which I did notate it, but nothing changed yet, may take a week or so. Hope so.

Rim clip is a colloquial term for very small clip (incomplete planchet). This particular one is so small - hardly worth the error fee IMO, but if you want it for a set - get it reholdered without the error designation. Nice coin BTW!
I thought that @dimeman was right...until I seen the snipit saying that they were not allowed in competition sets...which I feel is wrong. If varieties can be added...why not errors?
