Seen stuff like it. Assume it is CP but not sure. I always likes the old CP holders. Simpler times before slabbing. A nice holder protected and dressed up a coin.
They have been around for a loong time. CP that is. Anyone know how long?
Given the plastic assembly screws I’d say Capital Plastics. Is there a assembly alignment mark on the right edge?

Dont know, I'm thinking of purchasing set, I collect both CP, and Bicentennial.

I have not seen that one.
They are presumably 40% silver and look nice. If not to expensive I'd jump on it.
+1
Fun stuff!
U.S. Type Set
I like it alot!
HAPPY COLLECTING
Me too !!!
I like it..
I am concerned about this specific holder as they left out Alaska and Hawaii. Guess they did not sell any bicentennial coins in either state.
IIRC, Capital Plastics had a similar product. Whether this specific holder came from there, one can't be 100% - but probably.
Very cool
I've used them over the years and even had a few custom made.

Not sure how long but I was buying holders from them nearly 50 years ago . . .
Still do:
1947-P & D; 1948-D; 1949-P & S; 1950-D & S; and 1952-S.
Any help locating any of these OBW rolls would be gratefully appreciated!
Capitol makes nice coin holders and a great display for non-slabbed coins. I have a few, as I imagine many long term collectors do...Though I have not seen the one in the OP before. Cheers, RickO
I've got a similar holder... I always assumed it was a capital plastics.

I think I've owned that United States shaped holder before.

What I really like about Capitols is the fact that you can have them custom created. I have one that someone created for a three coin set of Alaska fractionals. The Morgan branch mint pieces were pretty cool too. The one shaped like Nevada for the 'CC's' and the one shaped like Louisiana for the 'O' mint dollars. For the collector of raw coins, it doesn't get any better.
I like that Bicentennial holder and would buy it if I collected Bicentennial coins.
Here's a CP custom holder I posted in another thread. I bought it full in the mid 70s and it was what got me hooked on collecting $5 Liberty half-eagles.

I had holders made for a Large Cent date set some years back.

This is one of the ideal uses for excess material when cell casting an Acrylic sheet for Aerospace or Ballistics Markets. The profits are in the reduction to the waste/excess plastic sheet. Restaurant light up signs, plastic holders, awards all are made from the outer parts of the sheet. The balance go to purge residues in processing machines. IDK why I just told you all that. UGG

Believe it or not, these are the kinds of tidbits of information I like to hear.
I put my first proof set in a CP holder in late 1961, but I'd guess they are much older than that.

all my boxes say Capital Plastics
I recall many years ago when I was a new collector I got a 1961 proof set in OGP and my friend got one in a Capital Plastics holder. I knew even back then that OGP was the usually preferred option, but I never forgot how good his set looked in that 3 piece (red center) CP holder. At some point I may crack (tear?) out a 1961 proof set and put it in a CP holder.
That's exactly what I did - but in a blue holder instead. I prefer the look of the red holders for proof sets, so when I sold a bunch of early '50's sets I got them in fresh red holders with the burgundy felt pouch.
I wish I could get a couple of the burgundy pouches - apparently they switched to black with a logo.

Found my carpy cell phone photos of a custom holder I bought from another collector a long time ago. I wish I could get another of the vinyl covers, the original is getting a bit fragile.

What a great display of a very nice set. I'd be quite proud having such a set.
I was going to break out my Peace set that I put together 20yrs ago but decided to leave them in the holder and also fill the empty holes since I have the coins.
The down side of slabs is their bulky and no way to display a completed set.
And the printed logo flakes off. I threw mine out. My wife kindly purchased a good quality felt and sewed a number of them for my 2” x 6” older proof set holders.

Who had the one called "The world's ugliest gold type set" or something like that? I really liked that one, it had well worn coins and the holder itself was a bit weathered.
Edit: Found it! it was posted by @ianrussell
