Cancelled orders......what's up with that?

AUandAGAUandAG Posts: 24,992 ✭✭✭✭✭

I had two orders cancelled by the seller this week. One was a daily planner and no biggie. The other was a nice a pricey 1875CC $20 UNC PCGS graded gold. I was really looking forward to getting that one. Seller sent me tracking. Never gave it to the PO and then when questioned said there was a postage error and would be going to PO to mail. Never saw or heard for three days and sent a nice inquiry and was told it's no longer avail and my card will be refunded. Oh my.
So goes my week.
Anyone cancel any of yours?

never happened to me, but if it was a no reserve and he felt he didn't get enough for it, they will do that. deserves a negative. he lied to you about the tracking and wasted your time

I had an used book eBay order 'cancelled' recently (after about two weeks wait) because the seller claimed she got it back from the post office in badly damaged condition. I believed the seller, the firm's feedbacks suggested no earlier pattern of cancellations. Shortly thereafter, I got the same book elsewhere for one-half the earlier price (and found out the book was not worth all the hype it had received from several independent reviewers).

These things have a way of resolving themselves, if they were ever meant to be in the first place.

Make sure to leave a negative for the seller and provide feedback stating the seller didn't ship the item after taking you $$$.

I have had it happen a couple times, but purchases never got as far as tracking provided. One seller gave me a better coin for the same money that I sent off for a CAC sticker.

The seller deserves a neg for the way your transaction was handled.

Yep 2x gold AGE, gave me tracking and said shipped, tracking showed never dropped at post office after 3 days. Questioned was told they decided to hand deliver instead of ship? (1500 + miles) Then said messed up and shipped without a tracking number. Next said accidently oversold more then were available so was going to ship me gold Britannias instead. Finally reluctantly refunded but asked me to repay once my gold Britannias show up. lol People are on drugs.

The whole worlds off its rocker, buy Gold™.

Can't leave feedback once the refund goes through......dang.

Seller is now a "no longer registered user" as it appears that he did the same on two other auctions. Mine was a BIN and I paid via Paypal Credit (fully refunded now and no issues with that). Felt great about using Paypal for sure.

    Onward and upward, carry on.

The only time I ever left negative feedback was for a canceled order. Guy listed a 66 Morgan for barely over 65 money buy it now probably on accident. If he would have right away messaged me and said that it was an accident I would have without hesitation said no problem mistakes happen and moved on with my life. Instead he never shipped, never responded to my (polite) messages and after 3-4 weeks went by he refunded the money without a response or reason. I basically loaned him money for a month.

I would not like that experience...not a bit. I am glad you did not loose any $ nor eBay buck deal ;)

I have been cancelled a few times. It's always because I live in Minnesota.
Sellers tell me they are registered in the state, and promptly refund money.
I always check to make sure Minnesota is not on their shipping exemptions, but as far as I can tell no one does.

Did you a better than average deal Bob? Maybe he got a better offer after the sale.

On the other hand I was a high bidder on an item a couple weeks ago that I to cancel (due to a mistake on my end) and I sent a polite note to the seller that I had cancel the purchase and he was very understanding and went to the next highest bidder.

So I guess stuff can happen on both ends. As long as both parties are civil and not trying to pull somthing shady.

As you said move on to the next one.

I had a guy this week. He cherry picked 5 items out of 3 different lots I had listed and told me he was going to buy them for 1/5th of my asking price. English wasn't his first language, I thought at first, how can someone with 400 feedback be a crook (I know, they're everywhere).

He seemed like a nice guy despite the initial "I'm taking these items out of your listings and inconvenience you for a very small profit", and the ones he wanted I could afford to drop very low and secure a return customer etc. and turn the item lots into two others.

I run the numbers for the guy and am willing to split it up. He messages me 2 days later. The items have since sold. Then he tells me he's interested in another item (my highest priced), and says he's been having ebay money problems, something about partial/full refunds, and asked if I could send to another state and send part of it to his ebay one. Then says he will be having it come in over time and he has to talk to customer service every week..

Nope, sorry guy, haha. Something ain't right there.

I had one because their water heater blew up.

The 1875CC gold was $8,500, MS60, PCGS. Yes, I though it was a good deal. It was a BIN that had been up over an hour before I saw it so I'm sure others looked too. I thought it might 1: upgrade and 2: it was under market by a tad. I was willing to get it in hand and didn't think there was much if any downside. (I don't return ebay items unless not as described, so was taking all the risks).

I have only had one cancelled item... it was not a coin, it was a Yixing clay tea caddy.... It was a BIN... and after closing (two days) I got a message telling me that when preparing to ship, they looked inside, and there was residues of something that had rotted and dried. Said it was a mess and could not sell it - refunded my money. Well, seemed legit... and not a big loss - but it was a really nice item. :/ Cheers, RickO

It happens but rarely for me. Last one bc they don’t ship to pob.

Some cry babies here u didn’t get the rip boo hoo hoo.

I think some sellers start stuff too low then have regrets. A seller should honor his auctions and ship. I would not start anything on the Bay below Bluesheet or 80 pct of cdn bid what I would expect get shopping it around the bourse or at a shop - I would take advantage of the auto relist feature. Then if it does not sell throw it back in the store at retail - I have had a number of these sell at retail in a week or two. You should review your item before the last 24 hours bc after that bay not let u end it.

That is uncalled for. Not one single person in here is complaining about "not getting a rip". Then you follow it up with "A seller should honor his auctions and ship", so which is it? The seller should ship or the buyer should suck it up and deal with the run-around game?

What rip? Did you see the auction? Did I offer less than asked? NO, it was a BIN at $8,500 which in fact might just be the market value. I did not cry about anything other than sellers cancelling my legit orders. If he got more from someone else then bravo to the seller. But, lying about shipping is just not called for. I wasn't pushing him but did want tracking as it had to be signed for and I'd have to arrange someone to be at home at that time.

    Carry on,

is it because they didnt really own the coin but hoped to purchase it if they sold "their" coin on ebay?
