Help with tarnish removal on Morgans?

What do I do about this ugly bright orange to fiery red sinking into deep blue to green to gold tarnish?

Like on this 1885-CC vam-3 (I think) :#

Crack and dip. Dip it twice, it's the only way to be sure it comes off.

Since the coin is likely not a 65 :#, it is worth more in the fully-documented GSA slab than in any other "merchandisable slabbing state".
It will be easy to trade for another white 85-CC with "papers' or in a slab. While the premium has eroded for GSA schlock, this one's pretty to some B) , and there is enough demand to save you $30+ in fees and shipping. Someone less a Philistine than you will pay $30+ for the toning. Likely trade you straight up for an white PCGS MS64. :)

See the above posters. They're serious :)

This is as close as I get to an @Screwie imitation >:)
    I'd work harder if it were a 66 :o

I had a chance to pick through a complete set of GSAs today. Matching, tight boxes with all certificates, a family selling dad's collection (moving into a home, I believe).

I grabbed the 1880 (Vam 3?), the 1881 (Vam 2?) and this one from the bunch. I bet I've opened the boxes more this afternoon than they've been opened in the last 30 years. The 1880 has a nice moon of gold around the reverse.

It pays to be first in line sometimes :)

I would just leave her alone.....it is part of her character; beside it may start the toning somewhere else..... ;)

I've glanced at this Morgan a few times and like it a tad bit more then a white coin just wish it had been left for the toning to progress a bit more.

As right now it just sort of looks like an Irish lass that tried to get a tan.

    Including the 79-CC and 90-CC?

And why, pray tell, did you not buy them all? You cherry picked a seller?

A big smiley face sticker on the holder could cover it completely.

VAM guys, the VAMworld mintmark on the 1880 doesn't seem to match exactly what I'd expect to see on a VAM-3. Confirm it's a 3, or is it something else entirely?

So a chemical reaction occurred in that holder. Since the holder does not indicate grade and condition, submit the coin for grade and slab and all shall be good in the universe. Peace Roy

I don't see anything wrong with the toning. I would leave it alone.

Certainly like the first 2 better than the toner you originally posted. All that's left is to get that 3rd one cleaned up. Very nice, congrats
