Grade this 1885 P Morgan?

Found this the other day but they want $60, love the midnight blue toning on the obverse. Looks like to me a typical MS 62-63? Some big bag marks on the cheek though. Thoughts?

I think the reverse saves a 63 call. If it was baggy, then it would be a 62.

62/63....seems a bit expensive... must be the tarnish premium. Cheers, RickO

    Obverse 61---Reverse 63, so I would be comfortable calling it a 62.

MS61 and ugly. I am not a fan of this type of toning.

MS 62. The cheek holds it down to this.

$40 coin or so. I would not stretch out much for that puppy.

MS63, common date and in serious need of a dip. $60 is much too high, you can have a nice white slabbed one in the $40 range if you look around for it.

The prettiness of the blue is limited by the ugliness of the brown. No for 60 bucks. The cheeks are too beat up. This coin is always is going to be available with better color or less bag marks for this same price point. I would wait.

    In the old days....
    BU was a 60, CHBU was a 63 and GBU was a 65.
Well you could sometimes find a high end BU grading 62 but you could also see a low end
    CHBU grading 61-62 etc.
This one looks like a low end CHBU with the usual reverse outshining the obverse.

Some coins are just plain "Interesting"

The obverse is no better than MS-62. The reverse is MS-64, but the obverse rules. The color is attractive, but does not rate a premium.

Looks like a dipped and album retoned coin.

Light strike a lot on the cheek I would say that 60 is high for the coin. Has some rim issue too. Offer 45. If you like it for the toning.

$30, $40 coin tops. For $60 you can find a certified 64 or a raw gem with better color if you search a little bit, even on ebay.
