What is the difference if the $98 is in my bank account or in my ebay account? The lost purchasing power is still the same.

What lost purchasing power? You got to keep $98 in ebay bucks from last quarter for a coin that you returned for a full refund this quarter. Ebay deducted the $98 that you already spent. You didn't lose anything.

My account this quarter is now negative dude. It offsets the 98 I already got because I have to pay it back! If I spend 1500 right now my ebucks go to 2 instead of 100.

Yes $100-$98 is $2. We have determined you understand simple mathematics which I suppose is a step in the right direction. Now lets try again:
    1. You purchased a coin and earned $98 in ebay bucks.
    2. You returned that coin after the quarter ended and your account still retained the $98 ebay bucks from prior quarter.
    3. You spent the $98 in ebay bucks that technically were not yours since you returned the coin but too late for ebay to cancel.
    4. Ebay deducted the $98 from your ebay bucks account that you had already spent.
    5. Your account now reflects the -$98 balance.

You didn't lose a thing, you are exactly where you should be. Actually you made out because ebay gave you a interest free $98 loan.

Acop, just to let you know Apmex has AU random double eagles at $29.99 over melt. Use your 8% offer, you will earn $100, get your balance to a +$2 and get a awesome coin for $70 under melt. Oh your welcome lol

Your frustration is understood, ACop. Promotions like the Ebay Bucks are funded by much higher final fees for the average schmuck seller and are a boon to the large subsidized merchants like Apmex.

For most buyers the bucks are a score that gets us into bullion for under melt. Every once in a while they bite us in the tuchas. This time you struck out.

Select your sellers better and maybe ask a question or two first if they are known for selling stock image items.

No one thinks its right. BUT where we differ is what APMEX should do about it. They made a mistake, offered a full refund, and even offered a partial refund option. To me, they are obviously trying to make it right. The OP is throwing a fit about losing out on a bonus that APMEX has nothing to do with. Those of us that think he is taking it a little too far just don't agree that APMEX should pay him an addition $700 or whatever he is wanting.

I'll try better next time, sorry I was at work and didn't see till I got home and they were selling fast. The OP surely would try to blame me for him losing $100 by missing the deal. Thank god he is not into bullion double eagles.

But seriously I missed it the first time, it was sold out then about an hour later they had more. Could happen again.

When I was learning to drive my dad told me “Better to be wrong than dead right.” His meaning was that it was better to yield sometimes than to exercise your right-of-way.

ACop is right and has a legitimate gripe. APMEX Is wrong, but in my mind it’s better to yield a little ground here than try to right every wrong in the world or die of a hypertensive crisis in the effort. If you’re looking for a hill to die on, I’d suggest one with a prettier view.

I’m going to try to compensate myself somehow for time I’ve wasted reading this thread. All of the useful information was spent in the first dozen posts.

So, the title says Gold CAC, the picture shows a Gold CAC coin, and the description says Gold CAC and they relisted it exactly as before knowing full well that the buyer is NOT getting a Gold CAC coin. Anybody on this forum listing that would be called a bait and switch scammer here.

The current listing show the CAC more on the green coloration instead of gold

At certain angles, sometimes the green ones look gold and the gold ones look green. Here is a gold one where you can see a little green shining thru. The holgram paper has dozens of layers to produce the effect and if you tilt it just right you can get a lot of different colors out of a hologram:

Those of us that think he is taking it a little too far just don't agree that APMEX should pay him an addition $700 or whatever he is wanting.

I didn't go look but we are being told the coin is again re-listed. Is it really a mistake if APMEX has been told about it but then continues to do it?

I once returned a coin to Teletrade because the pix were horrible and they relisted it with the same crappy pix.

But it was the same crappy coin and not a substitute? ;)

If APMEX relisted the coin without changes, then I was comparing it to the same crappy practice that TT employed.

Yeap, I'm with ya. I was having fun with the description "crappy coin". :)

I'm not sure if the OP said that the coin he received was crap.

Long but interesting thread. Bottom line is that @ACop didn't receive the coin pictured and as described (gold CAC).

If anyone out there thinks that this is an OK selling practice (and then has issues/plays games with the refund or correction), then I sure wouldn't want to do business with you and would add you to my block list in a half a heartbeat.

No one thinks its right. BUT where we differ is what APMEX should do about it. They made a mistake, offered a full refund, and even offered a partial refund option. To me, they are obviously trying to make it right. The OP is throwing a fit about losing out on a bonus that APMEX has nothing to do with. No he didn't. You used crappy pix, and I described crappy coin. Was making a funny.
