Tough date Seated half, with a neat look

Only 4800 Seated halves dated 1879 were minted, wonder how many survived? This is graded AU-55, is mildly prooflike and has some flash when titled into the light.

It's a nice and simple interesting coin, but P-L on a low mintage coin is not that unusual. When the mintage is low, the dies, which were polished before they were mounted into the coin press, don't get enough reps to wear off the polishing. Therefore a larger number of the survivors will have P-L surfaces.
Nice coin congrats thanks rln
Very nice coin... that would make me look twice....No idea of survival (never did understand how they arrive at survival figures)....Low mintage does not always mean low survival rates from what I have seen....Cheers, RickO
Isn't it surprising how the look of this coin changes with a light position change? Looks like two different coins. Yes, I know, this has been noted in the past, but this is a really good example of that, I'm thinking.

That's a very attractive coin, and in the AU55 grade, I'll bet a whole lot more affordable than a mint state example.
Oh yeah.... Real nice coin!
