Coin Stories can appear in the strangest places ...

I was recently going through some family memorabilia and came across a clipping from the January, 1952 edition of the "Inside News", an employee publication of the Chicago Transit Authority. The reason this clipping had been saved was that it featured a photo of my grandfather with a group of fellow bowlers who had just won a league trophy. I flipped the clipping over and read a story on the back side ... it concerned the finding of a Booker T. Washington Half Dollar in change. The employee who found the coin thought it was unusual enough to report the story.
All glory is fleeting.

Imagine finding one today in change.... heck, we do not even see Kennedy halves in change now...Cheers, RickO
When I was about six years old, I'd get candy at a gas station right next to my elementary school a few times a week. The owner of the place was very friendly older guy, and knew each of us on sight by name.
One day, I got a few pennies in change from my purchase. I got upset. " Mr. (I forget his last name)," I don't think this penny is real. It doesn't have Mr. Lincoln on it."
He looked at it, smiled, and replied, "Jeff, it's okay. It's a real penny, it's just very old."
I took him at his word and kept it. It was the first Indian Head Cent I ever saw.
