I wish that there were a 1,000,000 % tariff on each Chinese counterfeit coin that is sent into this country.

Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

they are blaming the tariffs for the stock market tanking

We should take majority share in any company China wants to operate in US then apply that to the debt. After all what is good for the goose is good for the gander. I don’t say this lightly either I believe in free markets but fair must come into play.

Buying this for 99 cents is (kinda like) a tax break for consumers.

The USA should be focusing in on AI, Solar, High Tech and not coal, steal or buggy whips.

I love high-end tools, but for some uses, like say fishing where I lose about 10 of these a year, this only makes sense ....

    99 cent store ....

They [the White House] should put tariffs on the import of their counterfeit coins.

    They'd make billions!

It's just unfathomable how we were taken to the cleaners and after some 40 years, we're just getting around to the thinking about what is fair and what not. That we all thought for a long time that someone had it all under control, we wouldn't let other countries screw us over. Until this year, we learn it's all out of whack and we paid trillions over that time and for what. Something is more than just rotten in Denmark, there are a lot of people over all those years that just need the schlitt slapped out of them.

I buy America made first, America allies second, neutral countries third, and China a distant fourth. I read the label each time that I'm contemplating purchasing a new product. Unfortunately, it's hard to find certain items in the stores that are not made in China.

I hate buying anything made in China for various reasons, one of which is that they have nuclear missiles pointed at us - I tend to be "funny" in that regard.

I began checking where products are made years ago. It is not difficult to avoid products from China. Yes, they are all over... however, with just a bit of effort, one can find U.S. made products that fit the bill... and, may I add, often for the same price. Many purchases made are not needed immediately.. so a little time will allow one to find a product made here. I will make exceptions for some European produced items. I avoid products from all of Asia, Mexico and South America. I prefer supporting American industry whenever I can. Not doing so is illogical. Cheers, RickO

I read that 89% of the foreign ophthalmologists in America have cataracts. The other 11% have Toyotas.

What brand of keyboard do you use?

  • rickoricko Posts: 98,724 ✭✭✭✭✭

It is a laptop, ASUS, and it is made in China. A gift from my wife.... however, if I were buying a laptop, I would certainly search for a brand made in USA... though I doubt I will find one. Tough to do without a computer these days... Cheers, RickO

I recently sold some numismatic items to the UK and to Canada. The UK charged the buyer $9.56 on a $25 roll of clad Kennedy halves, and Canada charged the buyer $5.58 on a $36 large cent. In the past, sales to Hong Kong, Netherlands, Germany, Belgium all had about a 35% tariff. Oddly Russia imposed no duties up to a threshhold of $700. I don't know for sure, but I believe exports of numismatic items from these countries has virtually no tariff.

Here is a fake 1964 offered on Aliexpress as "1964 US Roosevelt Silver Dime Free Shipping". Priced at $1.65 each, I thought they might be real. But the picture is of a fake and the description says "Our factory has the strength to make enough coins.we made coins about 15 years."

When did ole Roosevelt get them jowls like my Labrador retrievers? lol

PS why on earth would someone pay $1.65 when a real 90% silver one can currently be had for $1? I have had dealers show me fake 1965 quarters, $1 presidential dollars etc. out of China, not even trying to pass as a silver, just fake clad junk.

That is something I hope Trump will address! I'm closed to sending an email pointing this out and see if I get a response! If that isn't unfair trade for us smaller sellers I don't know what is!
