OK, so I won my first Heritage auction. Now what?

After heaps of near (and far) misses, I finally won an auction. I promptly paid the initial invoice and have been expecting a second invoice to cover the shipping. It's been over a week and I haven't heard a thing. I sent an e-mail message yesterday seeking an update. No response. Is this normal?

The invoice should include shipping cost.
The initial invoice states that shipping charges have yet to be determined. The coin is to be shipped to NZ.

Your next step should be to buy some Goo Gone to get their blood sucking sticker off the slab

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
I find that direct telephone contact is usually the most effective method to achieve results. Cheers, RickO
Their domestic shipping charges are outrageous. International shipping could be unbelievable. Good luck!!
Yep, definitely call them for a faster response. And they will usually ship internationally using a “guaranteed” trackable method to thwart scammers, so it may be costly. That’s just the way it is for secure international shipping - no cheap way about it.
It depends on how you tell HA to ship the item, if you use third party then you pay the shipping but if you use HA then they will send you the second invoice for shipping once they ship the item or they can just charge to your default payment option such as credit card.
Get out while the getting is good.
I usually wait until they send me a final invoice, including the shipping, by email. Once the last session of an auction is completed they get those out quickly. Then I send them a check. As the others have said, calling them is the best way to resolve questions.
All of the negativity aside....(Afterall, if it took you "heaps of misses", it seems highly likely you are being careful, and found the right coin at the right price!)
I'm sure a new buyer from out of the country is probably the exception, and takes a bit more time for them to figure out. So this isn't "normal", but your situation is not normal....they'll figure it out. If you don't get an email response in a day or so, I agree that calling them might be a good idea.
Only a week? Yup, Heritage can be slow to ship -- even for repeat U.S. customers like me.
For example, as usual I promptly paid my last invoice. 2+ weeks later, my coin hadn't shipped. Not typical. And no email response. So, I called and politely asked if there was a problem. It shipped very soon afterward (in a day or so IIRC).
Since your shipment is international, you might want to call just to make sure there are no problems.
Or just be patient. Heritage is reputable & reliable. They'll ship it -- eventually.

Congrats. Just wait til the emails start. They’re punctual !

In this day and age, having to call anymore is ridiculous, time consuming, and there is no record of what was agreed upon.
Thanks for the responses. I don't mind ringing but that really shouldn't be necessary.
By the way, when I first started perusing the Heritage listings, they had details around international shipping posted on their website. The costs weren't too bad - no worse than shipping handled by eBay. I see now that those details are no longer there. I tremble with trepidation...

By the way, the e-mails started after my first bid. Every day, like clockwork!

Shoot them an email. I ordered two coins from long beach 2 years ago and they forgot to send my coins. After a quick e-mail, they promptly sent them out.
They peel off pretty easily for me.
I think the issue will be value of coin and how/if they insure. A $100 coin would be much different than a $10,000 coin.
Congratulations on your purchase. Heritage is a good venue but you need to be patient. The will not forget you on the shipping charge and it is likely to be two or three times what you expect.
So what did you get? Just curious really....I need to break out my NZ collection and look at it...it has been a while!

I have gotten results from my calls. I've seen emails ignored.
Heritage responded to my e-mail message from a couple of days ago. I've been given a couple of shipping options with FedEx and UPS. I just visited both websites and found that the lowest cost option is still over $100! For a $200-ish coin! I quickly switched to Plan B: post to a friend in the US for forwarding to me ($10 or less from there to here).
2-3 times my expectation was a good estimate but it turned out to be more like four+ times...
@ElKevvo, it was a Draped Bust Large Cent (my true love). I tried collecting NZ coins but I don't find them to be particularly interesting.

$100 OMG.
Maybe Trump can have Amazon ship it to you for a buck and a half.
