Someone is going to be disappointed...

I came across this eBay auction that is set to end in about 4 hours. The current bid is up to $355.00!! I would have a hard time forking over $35.00 for this one.
For those that don't want to go to eBay...

you have a person with 0 feedback bidding this auction up. a legit auction? don't think so. a bu 1882 CC brings less then 200, would much rather have the CC
Polished?
It looks nice, but I'm not a Morgan Dollar guy. And 1882 is a common date.
yeah, they polished it and forgot to wear a glove, look at that huge fingerprint
Yeah, the coin is doctored in a very bad way. The surfaces are all wrong, the frost is fake, it's just a bad coin.
Tuition continues to rise....
It's being represented as a coin that it is not. An 1882 high grade DMPL. It would rank right up there with a 1945 Mercury Dime with a tooled band line to make a FSB.
Thanks....that is good to know.
He actually is advertising it as cleaned/polished, so the buyers know what they are buying.

I guess that makes the bidders informed fools.
They still bid it up that much. I wish I had money to burn. Oh well.
Better coins through tooling ... At you know what you are buying if you have a brain or do a minimal amount of research.
The haloes around the letters are a very bad sign.
Reported as a replica. Replica DMPL.
Is this one of those old California PL's? I remember seeing a photo one, once, a while ago but cant remember what they look like.
I don’t think the buyer will know he/she should be disappointed

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
That's probably the unfortunate truth. They will be however, if they try to take this to a dealer to have them submit it for grading. But who knows...
Because the thread was created prior to the end of the auction. There were bids posted after this thread was started. But thank you for the information about the winning bidder. Just proves that the thieves are thick on eBay.
"California Special" was my first thought. Polished and sandblasted - used to see those out here on the bid boards all the time Anybody remember bidboards?
Check out my current listings: https://ebay.com/sch/khunt/m.html?_ipg=200&_sop=12&_rdc=1
Which bidder is the shill? Check out the underbidder. Out of the last 588 bids 87% were with this seller. It's possible the "New" account is a newbie and just got taken for a ride. But who knows...
LOL.. There is a shop in Tacoma that still has a bid board.
. At least the last time I was there a couple of years ago.
That is amazing... clearly stated as cleaned/polished... and certainly appears tooled... must have been shill bidding as Afford indicates... Cheers, RickO
No, I think that this was just a case of the fool and the fool with more money.
If you look at this sellers auctions, he sells lots of silvers dollars and little else, every day. He's buying them in quantity and just cranking them out, probably making a few dollars. Some are cleaned and this one looks "special" and different. A fool and a bigger fool just decided that this is a good one. The seller (and underbidder) got lucky.
_1882-P Morgan Silver Dollar.
Coin has nice detail great for collection or investment.
This coin has been cleaned or polished or has other minor issues.
Photos are of actual coin you will receive.
Please see pictures to determine condition by your standards. _
Assuming all bidders read past the first 2 lines....I wouldn't assume that. They could even assume the seller got it wrong. Seller groups "cleaned or polished" with "other minor issues," as if polished and re-frosted are "minor." 2 other bidders at $100 and $220 were bailed out.
Put brain in gear before engaging mouse-click.
California cameo (fake cameo) shilled. Can't get much more crooked than that. Look at the frost in the "R"
