@ECHOES, I am not familiar with these. What are the SAMPLES supposed to represent? Are they for education or training purposes?

To my understanding they are a 'Sample' of a (Past / Current) Holder.

I have 2 of those (Kennedy Half) purchased from Russ Stringham.
AH Kennedy master who was on eBay as Resco.
Unfortunately not here with others, in SDB.

Welcome to the club, download the PDF of the D. Schwager book. "sample Slabs" he updates it quite often. And of course the old website sampleslabs.com is still a great resource, its old and not been updated in years, but still has the early stuff listed and I still use it.

Sorry to sound so negative; but here we go again. Samples can be cheap and appealing but somewhere down the line you will look back at the money spent on samples and you will realize you could have bought some some decent coins of value and will off load your samples for the next person who thinks they are worth collecting. Buy hey, if it makes happy, go for it.

We are all entitled to an opinion, I find them fun to collect. Searching for date and mint mark, has in some cases been a challenge. I have no plans to sell, I'm not doing this for profit but rather for the fun and enjoyment it provides...

I have one also, looks like the 4.1 sample looking at yours. Nice collection of them btw! Some people only look at the hobby as value and tend to forget that there is also fun in a hobby. Those of us that still enjoy it as a hobby will be happier with what we collect.

I bought my first sample old green the other day. It’s a 1964 Kennedy I’m eagerly awaiting its arrival in mail. Great stuff here.

PCGS was giving out the 2017-D sample at the 2018 FUN show, same sample used for much of 2017.

Luncheon slab was a 2018 penney, mostly D with a few P and S mintmarks, all 3 needed for a complete set.

I work for ANACS. We give these out at shows to show people what our holder looks like in-hand. I also give them to YN's who stop by the table.

Been collecting samples now for a dozen years and It has been a lot of fun, met a lot of new people here and through out all the different forums. When I started I was buying from Cameron Kiefer thru his eBay sales.
