No one knows if they are going to be convicted or not. That's why there are trials, plea bargains, reduced or dismissed charges after discovery. Not to mention that CO Tennessee Dave is absolutely correct, time in a state prison beats the large inner city jails. Large inner city jails hold the worst of the worst awaiting trial. In a state prison, you can get 4 different levels of prisons in places, and not be housed with murderers, like you can be in a city/county jail.

You two really have no idea what you're talking about.

    Actually, I do.

Work in a maximum security hell hole, , another time next door neighbor was a warden, and have a lot of police friends, city and county.

To RATIONAL people, the thought of getting out via bonding, hung jury, etc. is real and what WE think would happen. For many, after being in prison 3, 4, 8 times, there is no illusion, they know how it plays out, etc. When you see them working out 24 x 7, bulking up, you know they are getting ready for state prison and are trying to "move up" in the food chain.

In city or county, family can visit, easier than 1/2 way across the state, lawyer often has a office in the same building as the jail, etc.

However, I will choose to pass on both of them.

Actually you lose, trying to be a Google lawyer. Here's your grade...FAIL. Thanks for playing.

You would've taken a 20 year deal, based on the lack of intelligence reflected in your posts.

I think Shane is smarter than you

I was a criminal defense attorney for 15 years (Indiana). I was Chief Public Defender most of that time. A lot of you here have no idea what you're talking about. State sentencing laws vary greatly. In Indiana for most felonies basically get 2 days credit for every one good day you serve. you end up serving half your time if you're a good boy. Recently Indiana stripped this right from criminals convicted of certain sex crimes (credit restricted felon), giving one day credit for every day served. That means you serve all of your time. I have no idea how Florida law translates to Indiana, but if its anything like here Shane will serve more time than you think. He will also likely have to register as a sexual offender for up to life. I tell you what that tag hurts. It restricts where you can work and live and restricts your exposure to minors. I have had clients who had to move clear out in the middle of nowhere because they cant live a certain distance from schools, daycare facilities, which includes most churches that have these programs. He's going to live in misery for the rest of his life, I can tell you that.

The complete segregation from "regular" criminals isn't true either. I have had clients that were moved prison to prison because they basically couldn't survive anywhere. Once word gets out of your conviction, which doesn't take long, its only a matter of time.

Most people who don't bond out try to stay at their local jail as long as possible because they can regularly see loved ones and relatives. Although, many states will not allow minor children to visit their parents. That's a different story in state prison. They usually allow minors to visit their parents. It is correct that most local jails are overcrowded and lack any segregation from the normal crowd which has its obvious downfalls.

Rumor has it they like them his size.

    37.5 min

    max 15 years for each offense X 34 = 510

Note: it looks like the Judges notes, harshest penalty.

The crooked creep needed help years ago, surely he had many alarm bells he was ignoring. He could have limited his internet exposure to the public library, and there was a local library employee arrested for this recently: https://www.nbcconnecticut.com/news/local/Westport-Man-Charged-with-Possession-of-Child-Pornography-471678353.html Since he went from bad to worse too bad he didn't junk his computer. As one great teacher said, if your right hand causes offense, cut if off! And "But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea." Smut is bad news, with around 30% of the internet, but corruption of youths is unforgivable.

As someone who did a little business with Shane through his earlier E-Bay sales days, we spoke a couple of times. I thought he had custody of a couple of children, post divorce.

I just pray that somehow his ex had those kids and that his downloading of that garbage was to sell it rather than consume it. This whole story is disappointing and disturbing.

It is less likely anyone in the local jails will know what he's in for until after convicted. Easier to blend in unnoticed. Between 2012 and 2017 I bought almost 50 toned coins from kryptonitecomics' eBay auctions. Currently all are PCGS graded. I was completely satisfied with all of them then and still am.

During the last year or two of his auctions I did notice the presence of AT looking raw mint sets and Morgan dollars. From what he said, these were all consignments. Events turned south not long after that.

He did. At least back in '05.
Saw it at FUN as he sold a raw, AT, coin to a father son combo without disclosing it was AT. He told them all about toning, how it happens (naturally), and how it raises the "value" of coins. It was relatively cheap, still under $50, for what he sold them back then, but it wasn't right.

I had to move on before they finished talking, as I talked to him just prior and was at a table next to him, which is how I heard the conversation, but didn't have the time, nor inclination, to hang around for their casual chatting after he showed them the coin and they said they would buy it. They have bought more or may not have, after I left.

That was my first real show (even before I went to many local ones), and I was a dear lost in headlights on what coin show etiquette was and dealers to trust. It was at that point, I learned one NOT to trust though.....

So, I don't know other AT instances, but I would stake my stash on the one I did witness.
(when he and I were discussing coins when I stopped at his table, I introduced myself as a forum member...and we DID talk about AT coins and he DID show me some he had and said they were AT (but that he got them that way) and one of these was the one he sold that father and son).
