Grades in! Pics in thread.

clarkbar04clarkbar04 Posts: 4,979 ✭✭✭✭✭

Results of a 1/5 submission posted Friday. All my coins graded which has not been the case for a while. All were bought raw.
Real clean for a 62. Has some "cabinet friction" on the front of the face that warrants the grade.

Cool crusty 2 sided toner, ms63.

Nice obverse toner that hits if you tilt it. Pretty much covered in pinkish rose except at the rims which are greenish. 64

Thought it had a good shot at 65 but the obverse strike must have been a bit weak as they are commonly found. Roll fresh luster. 64

First one of these, cool that you can get 150 year old raw coins which will respectably straight grade. Ms63

MS66 taste on an MS63 budget.

Nice! I think the Buff could have going higher. I also like your image of the 1925!

    Like the nickels! Great job!

What is going on with the date on the 1867?

There's a gaggle of repunched and misplaced dates in 1867 but I didn't bother with the attribution, since it's only for type.

I'd buy that 34 in 62 all day long. Nice coins!

That 1929 has a lot to like. 65 type luster for sure. 65 Type Stike, at least in my book. I suppose one could say there are some technical detractors: a weaker central obverse stike, a larger hit in the Buffalo Maine, a few spots. Still, that reverse strike is great for the date, and would carry a lot of weight in my opinion to lean towards a 65.

The reverse of that Buff is really nice... too bad about the obverse.... Cheers, RickO

That 34 should have easily graded at 63. The 24 certainly could have used a dip before grading, makes me want to puke.

The others seem in line with the grade. Personally I would have also dipped the 25 but at least as is doesn't make me want to vomit like that 24 does.

We get it, you like white coins. No reason to be a duckhead about it.

Sorry not trying to be rude about it. It's just an extremely ugly arse coin. I wouldn't personally pay $20 for it. Maybe I should have just kept to myself. Didn't realize you were just posting in hopes of having other members fluff up your coins.

Let’s take a look at some a your coins. They might need some fluffing :)

The bitterness of "Poor Quality" is remembered long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.

You weren't? It must come naturally to you.

There's an entire market for toned coins you obviously have no clue about, someone would happily pay me 3 figures for this.

Keep your rude a$$ comments to yourself next time, jerk.

Hey are you by chance in PGH area? And just because your coin makes me want to vomit is no excuse to resort to name calling. lol

On just the subject of color/white coins - first consider the issue. Is it rare? If not, try to leave the color be, and move the coin at auction. Reds and greens are very desirable. Also, the Peace series does not often come with these colors. I understand that white coins are the norm and sell: I do see that aspect of your viewpoint.

Clarkbar, thank you for sharing submission results. None of us ever know what to expect with a submission.

All of the coins you posted are very interesting and indicate to me that you have great taste in coins. And sometimes great taste does not grade as well as we hoped. I have been actively considering downgrading my registry set to be my favorites and not just the most highly graded coins. To me not much difference between #4 and #5, but i will definitely be more impressed by my digital album.

I think that is a great way to go. I like eye appeal over grade. I have a couple of MS62s in my collection that I feel would be tough to upgrade. Here are a couple.
