Every time I go to a show I do a report. So I know when I am buying it I will show and tell. But I am not going to coin shows to get likes here. If that makes any sense. But I do post my coins hoping to get likes, and am happy to share.

what did you buy, topstuf?
I have a few coins, (which I like), that I refuse to show here because somebody will tell me what a poor purchase it was, without even knowing what I paid.
LOL
A new computer.
No, I buy coins for me that I like, but that does not mean that that I have failed to listen to advise from those whom I respect.
Honestly? Affirmation of my fellow numismatists plays a part. Numismatics (and pretty much any hobby) in the 21st century has a big voyeuristic component. Do I buy coins and show them just to get "atta boys"? Maybe not. But I enjoy sharing them, and I get a kick about my purchases if others agree it's nice, interesting, or well-bought.
We're evolving to an online hobby.

Seems like an expensive way to make friends. Hookers would be cheaper

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
let's keep this about coins, not marriage.
Have you ever purchased a hooker to show it off?

No but I have bought a coin knowing I would share it online.

I only buy coins, because I like them, but I do enjoy showing them off and getting opinions.

No, but considering what others would think of your coin if you posted a picture is probably not an unreasonable part of the buying process.

Is there any other reason?
I never brag about my conquests.................
Coins, of course.

Only if you are Richard Geer in "Pretty Woman."
Never bought only to show here but some coins I buy for my sets and think “the forum will enjoy this one!”
That would involve me photographing the coin, developing the technical skill and logistics to post it here which is just not in the realm of my limited capabilities. Next...
Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.
Of course not. I am a purist numismatist (purismatist) and only buy for my own enjoyment and historical significan.......
oh I can't go on.
I thought of that as a response but made the effort to be more transparent.

No.
Almost everyone said NO. Wait, one person so far said YES, that they buy coins JUST to get it liked on the forum. Really?????? Show me that coin so I can give you a LIKE!!!!!!!!!!
This forum can see right through attempts at transparency.
the same small group that like each others post anyway
its basically a regular cast. My dreck is stuff folks here spend or throw away
Seems silly unless you buy something you know a forum friend would like to own so you buy and offer it to them.
Done the old 180 quite a few times.
I purchase coins and immediately hide them away
I don't bother to show most of my additions because I mostly collect modern and when I do get something older it's usually well circulated, which is what I like.
Thats ridiculous.
I am not that clever
Yes...to get likes. These coin star rejects are in the shape of a turtle. I like turtles, too. Please like and share.

hmm...

Forum member approval does not help with the cost...so the answer is NO.
No.
I have not done that... I have only posted two coins...One that DIMEMAN photographed (D/D/D/S Buff) and one my wife took a picture of with her phone ($5 Indian)....Oh yeah... my Winston Churchill medallion too... Those were posted because I really like them...Cheers, RickO

I don't buy for a 'like' I buy because I like it.
That said, I try for a like when I post, I need a few more for my 'like' count.

[so please like me.]

No, but if I can get 17 more likes I will get my fourth star.
it's crackers to slip a rozzer the dropsy in snide
I thought about this famous forum coin for a few seconds but wasn't sure how many likes it would actually get.
no, that would be pretty dumb.
I usually think of these forums when I buy, planning to show and tell. It makes the hobby a lot more fun.
