Just made my 1ST purchase for the New Year.

There's a LOT of stuff on the market, just not a LOT that I want to own.

    None this week.

    Maybe this next one?....

Q: When does a collector become a numismatist?

A: The year they spend more on their library than their coin collection.

A numismatist is judged more on the content of their library than the content of their cabinet.

One last week that I have yet to receive, but that's an early coin from France so does that count? Otherwise not since FUN

    Shown in a different thread.

Probably close to 1000. Made an offer on a local antique store's entire stock of coins, and took in about 40 over the table at the show yesterday.

Nothing worthy of pictures or a thread, but mostly inexpensive stuff (sub $100 stuff) that sells well at coin club or shows.

A better question might be a poll or something indicating the value of the purchase. I spent less than $300 for all my junk. Someone who didn't buy a coin this month, may have spent $1000+ for his last purchase of ONE COIN. Sometimes it comes down to quantity vs quality. The lucky get BOTH. :)

Six, including the three below. Impulsive - couldn't help myself. Now I have no budget for the Long Beach show!

You have good taste! It's even nicer than the pix. Flashy luster and gorgeous iridescent periphery colors...almost mark-free.

It's from the Eric P. Newman auction in Nov 2013, graded MS62. It hammered for a steep price at the time (just short of $5k). I was lucky to get first shot when it came back to the market and paid a bit more than half the auction price.

I'm no grading expert, but its hard to believe it only graded MS62.

    3 all MS66+ Morgans...

Not a single one. Not a big surprise or difference from the norm. I did open the ancient I bought from @ajaan in January and saved for this month on Saturday though. I have not imaged it yet.

My plan is to buy one per month to celebrate my 10th year in the hobby. That's a lot more than I've done in the past five years.
