Very Cool 1900 Indian Cent Political Charms

Just acquired this very cool encased 1900 Indian cent political piece from the grandson of the original owner. It has a photo of McKinley and Roosevelt on one side and an Indian cent on the other side. It is encased in a bezel with celluloid covering both sides. These were given out and/or sold during McKinley’s 1900 presidential campaign. Besides the provenance, what is really special about this piece is that it still has the original ribbon attached!
It is a nice companion piece to the same type of encasement I have in my collection of McKinley’s opponent during that campaign, William Jennings Bryan. The Bryan token is much more scarce than the McKinley piece since he lost the election and his token wasn’t often saved.

You find some really nice stuff. Cool find.
Really nice!
I like them

Is that first cent well worn? If so, it could not have been encased in 1900.
Great political memorabilia Charmy.... and in really nice condition for the age....like me
Cheers, RickO
The Bryan Cent looks like it encased in 1900, with little to no wear. The McKinley/Roosevelt appears to have significant wear...too much wear for 1900?

The Bryan campaign also had a lot less money spend in both the 1896 and 1900 canvasses.
Nice pieces, especially since one of them has a family connection.
possibly the mica covering is distorting the appearance ?

Good point, it does seem to be lacking in details.

Thank you everyone. I am very pleased to have both of these awesome pieces. By the way, both tokens are definitely uncirculated and original encasements. The McKinley piece is not only distorted by the celluloid but also is somewhat discolored (most likely from being exposed to moisture) making the darker areas look like wear. But under magnification you can clearly see 4 diamonds, feather detail, etc., and no actual wear. Plus my cell phone photos are blurry.

You can see the focus is in the ribbon
Very nice! The connection to the original owner makes it even more fascinating.

Amazing that the ribbon survived! Make you wonder what else she saved? Cool!
Charmy, you amaze me with the things you come up with. What are the odds of finding an encased cent for both candidates? I like them a lot.

Charmy, that is very cool. It's great that it came from the original owner's grandson. I can't believe that it still has the original ribbon.
