Went through the same thing last year right around Christmas. My thoughts will be with you and your family.

Here's my '34-S Peace in my dansco, pulled from a lot of junk silver dollars. Aint the prettiest belle at the ball, but a key date for $16 is a good deal any day.

Thanks. Had a feeling the first coin would be a Peace

I don't have a picture of 1934 coin I can post in honor of your grandma but I do have some advice for you. If she still knows who you are and can carry on a conversation spend as much time with her as you can and ask her everything you can think of before she is gone. If you do that you will be glad you did and if you don't do that you will wish you had.

As Pete said above "These things are never easy ............" but they happen and you can remember the good times.

Great advice @tommy44. It's also a blessing just to have time with your dying loved one.

Hopefully she's comfortable. Enjoy her while you still have her.

How sad. I hope she's in no pain.

I never really knew my father's mother. She died in the late 1950's in her 80's. But she left me some cool coins, including a silver 3 cent piece from her birth year which I cherished until my house was burgled in the 1970's. It was the coin that spurred my collecting passion.

I work in hospice, hope they keep her comfortable and free of any pain/discomfort. Spend as much time as you can with her and take things day by day.

It's tough Chris. I lost a Grandfather and a Grandmother a day after each other just over a year ago. My Grandfather was my Dad's father and my Grandmother was my Mom's mother. My grandmother developed dementia months before and wasn't really alert. But my Grandfather was very alert and I got to spend an evening with him, just 2 days before he passed, watching an old Laurel and Hardy movie that we had shared great memories with when I was a kid. It was so nice to get to laugh with him and share those memories before he passed. So as said above, if you can spend time with her, do it. It's something you'll never regret.

You love your Grandma. Be with her at the end. Hold her hand. Kiss her face and tell her you love her. You can be there. Nothing else matters. She's your Grandma. If you don't, if you're not there, you'll have countless waking nights. She loves you too. God bless her. God bless you and yours.

Sorry to hear this Chris. I lost my mom last October and hospice did a great job in making her and us as comfortable as we could be. Prayers for your grandmother and your family.

So sorry to hear this. As others have said, speak as much as you can with her as those conversations will make for wonderful memories.

Very sad, however, as stated above, spend as much time as possible with her.... it will be good for her and provide you with great satisfaction as you see her smile and reminisce with you. Those last days are precious and you will cherish the memories. Cheers, RickO

I had the blessing of being raised by my grandmother - she grew up during the great depression so you can imagine how thrifty she was. I am glad that she was around long enough to make an impression on even my youngest daughter who still remembers her. She passed on almost 10 years ago now, not a day goes by that I don't think of her.

As others have said above, spend all the time you can with her. Make her memories yours.

Even if she appears to be asleep, speak to her and say good bye as she may still be able to hear you.
May she have a peaceful transition.

Thanks for all the comments guys. I was gonna go hang out with her this weekend but I just woke up with bad body aches, fever & headache so that's a no-go now. I just had the flu around Xmas too. This is no fun. I was fine when I went to bed. Sheesh.

My Mom passed Dec 26, '16. Hearing is the last to go. I'm convinced my Mom heard me tell her it was okay for her to go now, and be with Dad. She took one last breath after I said that.

Like Commemdude said, keep talking to her when you're there. My condolences.

Take the time to be with her.

Both my grandmothers passed while I was overseas with Uncle Sam, long before email, internet.

I found out in letters weeks later.
