Either from mint or aftermarket....? Doesn't matter.

So far none. Even though I like the idea I just can't bring myself to spend the money when I can use the funds to buy a pre-33 coin.

i did well on the mercury dimes...i think i bought 7 of them and sold all but one, with enough profit to pay for the one i kept.

somehow i missed out on the quarter...i don't remember what happened. then bought 2 of the half dollars. i still have 1 of those and broke even on the other.

In 2007 I bought the "Thomas Jefferson’s Liberty First Spouse $10 Gold Coin", but then I sold it when gold went up because I didn't really like the design that much. None since then.

None. I bought the Kennedy coin because I had fond memories of the coin as a young collector. The other three were all passes because they were expensive, and I knew I would seldom look at them.

Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

    *Others

*Palladium Eagle with the classic Mercury obverse and a stunning new eagle reverse.

(new to US minted coins at least).

I picked up all three. Don't ask me why but I did. I guess I figured they were unusual and beautiful tributes to some of our best coin designs. Add to that the hope that somewhere down the road they might (??) become sought after as new collectors discover them.

Prior to these I have not bought gold since the BHOF coin, and before that it was the first year of two of the gold eagle series. I obviously don't buy much Mint gold.

I bought the SL quarter, which was underwhelming in gold and seem to be trading way below issue price now

I still say that they should have been struck in clad for circulation and in original metal for collectors. And don't put the metal content on them. These would have been a hit instead of a miss.

    Just my eversohumble opinion.

    Cheers

Just the Quarter and Half. I wasn't quick enough to get the dime when it was released and for some reason still haven't bought one.

Actually, the US Mint could have attracted a whole new legion of collectors with a clad release for circulation and bag the Roosie, Washie, and JFK for the one year. Then go with a silver strike for the collectors. Opportunity squandered.

I think if they did that, they'd be pulled from circulation by hoarders and "speculators" as quickly as they went in.

Actually it was the gold set the reinvigorated my interest in the Quarter series. Really like the design.

I don't think the Mint has the power to do that scenario - it would have needed Congressional action. (The Sec. of the Treasury might have the power to change the design after 25 years, as I recall, but they can't do a one year switch and also I don't think they can mint in alternate metals).

I know, I would like to have one, but can't see the premium. One day I think I can get one closer to melt.

I bought several of the gold SLQ's and I'm still buying them. They fit in nicely with my $5 commems and nickels!
