I'm so sorry for your loss, Jon . I do feel your pain as I love my dogs and all dogs. They are nothing but pure love and nothing else.
I have Rat Terriers and love them to death.
The bitterness of "Poor Quality" is remembered long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.
People are among the few creatures dogs can empathize with, although I think we are the greater beneficiaries -- even if we make them wear bows or lamp shades. My 17-year old "Ivan" died about a year ago, and I miss that likeable mutt every time the house goes quiet.
I feel your loss so hard I actually can't really read the comments above. I have had plenty of life experiences that some would consider 'tragic' or 'sad', but nothing can compare to our losses of Britt, Ginger, or Lexie.
We have Mia (Boxer) and Winston (The Warmhearted Wonderdog) (Akbash) now. Mia is here below the desk, toasting in front of the radiant heater dish, and Winnie is upstairs guarding the front room - he is 140 pounds of snow white hound.
I sent Lance a PM on the novel he mentioned . . . "Watchers", by Dean Koontz. I teach English, and have seen or read it all . . . but if you are a dog person, and want to change your life forever . . . . pick it up. A bit intense, but if you can take more than three breaths in the last 50 pages, you beat me by one or two.
Hang in there. I am a firm believer in the Rainbow Bridge.
We lost this guy (Tanner)Christmas 2016 Teddy here was his brother and he died in my lap just before Thanksgiving last year. This is my current (and now, the only) furry kid, Fiona.
Losing those 2 boys was heart-wrenching (still is) I think of them everyday. But they had long, happy lives and brought so much happiness to me for many years. I'm not looking to adopt another one now, but it'll probably happen.
My condolences.
I am so sorry to hear this. I have been there as many of us have and understand that
decision rips deep. You loved her so much and received so much in return.
Keep the memories and know you did what needed to be done by someone who truly
loved her.
All my best,
John
Sorry you lost your Rebecca. Certainly know how you feel as we recently lost one of our labs. Remember all the good times you had with her and be proud that you were able to give her such a wonderful life. So many dogs never get that opportunity.

Walker Proof Digital Album Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
It's tough, they are our kids. They are so loyal, and are always there to brighten our day, listen intently when we need a friend, and rarely talk back. Unconditional love. I feel your pain my friend. My golden of 15 years that was glued to my side had to be put down. It's been a while and I still can't bring myself to get another pet.
The hardest part of being a companion pet owner...hang in there !!!
Remember.......the "LAST" thing our dogs want to see... is a heavy heart.
My mom told me when she was around 12, she and her best friend let every dog loose from
the dog pound, 80 to 100 she said, where she lived in Kansas. Got in big trouble and had to assist
rounding them ALL up, then she and her friend found good homes for almost every single one.
She was the town hero for a time, and became very active in the SPCA her entire life.
You can judge a persons character by how they treat their pets.
I am sorry your loss.
I know exactly how you feel. We lost our yellow lab years ago he was awesome.
I don't know what I would do if something happened to my black lab named Angus who is 3.
He is an awesome dog and even enjoys the downhill slip and slide
What a beautiful companion. It is so very difficult going through this. Even though you know eventually it happens
it doesn't not lessen the pain in any way.
I lost me beloved Italian Greyhound, my beautiful cat that was more of a dog than cat , along with my bird all within
one week of my mother passing. If I didn't know better she called them all home with her. It was devastating.
Soon after I lost my kidney transplant.......It couldn't get any worse
I had someone I know insist that I go and get a rescue dog immediately and I told him I need more time to grieve.
He kept pushing me and so I went online looking at the local rescue's and found the most loving and adorable dog.
I swear he has my precious dog and cat's ways about him........And I do NOT believe in reincarnation or anything like that,
Sammy is the best thing that came into my life when I needed him and within 1 year I received another kidney transplant.
But it was the best thing I did and while I cannot recommend this to you but please consider it as the new love of your life will help you with the pain.
Here is my new love Sammy. I hope my story helps you even it the slightest to get you through

Thanks for your thoughts Stef. I remember talking with you via PM's about you health problems a while back and am glad you are doing better. So sorry to hear about your Mother and all your loved pets. We still have Charlie (a Shih Tzu) who will be 7 in March. He is sad right now because he knows we are sad. When we brought little Rebecca home and was putting her in her little box Charlie came over and nuzzled her and immediately ran and jumped up on the couch and just laid there with the saddest look on his face.
Sorry for the loss of your little lady. In a couple days it will be the one-year anniversary for my sweet beagle Daisy, so I feel your pain. I hope that you find happiness in the good memories of Rebecca's life.

RIP Rebecca!

Our lovebird Mango is 6 yrs old and we are hoping he has another 10yrs of happy live with us...
A Loan From God
God promised at the b...irth of time,
A special friend to give,
His time on earth is short, he said,
So love him while he lives.
It may be six or seven years,
Or twelve or then sixteen,
But will you, till I call him back,
Take care of him for me?
A wagging tail and cold wet nose,
And silken velvet ears,
A heart as big as all outdoors,
To love you through the years.
His puppy ways will gladden you,
And antics bring a smile,
As guardian or friend he will,
Be loyal all the while.
He'll bring his charms to grace your life,
And though his stay be brief,
When he's gone the memories,
Are solace for your grief.
I cannot promise he will stay,
Since all from earth return,
But lessons only a dog can teach,
I want you each to learn.
Whatever love you give to him,
Returns in triple measure,
Follow his lead and gain a life,
Brim full of simple pleasure.
Enjoy each day as it comes,
Allow your heart to guide,
Be loyal and steadfast in love,
As the dog there by your side.
Now will you give him all your love,
Nor think the labor vain,
Nor hate me when I come to call,
To take him back again?
I fancy each of us would say,
"Dear Lord, thy will be done,
For all the joy this dog shall bring,
The risk of grief we'll run.
"We'll shelter him with tenderness,
We'll love him while we may,
And for the happiness we've known,
Forever grateful stay.
Our deepest sympathy. We consider our dogs the most valuable things we "own".
