I like it, but if I spend that much on a coin, I want it to go up in value. I'm undecided if that will happen yet.

I see that as a rule of thumb PR70 1ST STRIKES are routinely offered of previous issues for less than new junk from the Mint.

So why on earth ........ ?

Maybe more women will be interested in this issue, KathyL?

This has been a tough few years on the series. It seem interest has wavered but is that not the case on all coins? If you look at Peace dollars and other older issues, it is always the scarce items that win out in the long run. It seems that coin collectors are more in the NOW NOW NOW camp then the Later later much later camp. Have we all just decided if we cannot flip it in a week why bother? IDK

The platinum series barely appears on most collectors radar. I see no reason to expect that to change. It is just one more NCLT bullion issue.

The only near-term reason is the singularly creative designs the Plat proofs have inspired in recent years. Perhaps because it has been a backwater, the license for creativity and artistry has been loosened for the Plats, to their wonderful advantage.

Their microscopic mintages may also come into play down the line, but that depends on the resilience of numismatics as a whole.

In the end, either way it's still platinum.

@Kkathyl ....I am not a platinum collector. However, I like the thought that went into the design, and that she carries a sword on her hip. Also, the reverse eagle is very nice. Just thoughts... ;) Cheers, RickO

    That will be a keeper.
I picked up the first 3 plat proofs to put in each of my daughters safe box.
    Can't go wrong :)

Some coins are just plain "Interesting"
