I've seen these "full slab" trueviews on a few coins I know were graded at PCGS Europe, but have not seen this type on US-graded coins.

I sure hope not. I have a bunch in now waiting for T.V.

A change like that should be announced in advance and loudly.

Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.

I agree with RWB on this, I bet that is somehow part of the new gold shield basic service. There has to be something as this is not a phill Premium product and PCGS knows that.

I believe this is the answer. The coin was graded in the Paris office and they have not migrated to the more advanced photos yet.

I will say it would be nice if every coin did at least come with this type of image (included in the grading cost) as a way to match the NGC basic photos of every slab. It would certainly help show enough detail to verify if the slab is real and the coin has not been tampered with post-slabbing (i.e. prevent gassing of holders).

    From Phil:

    https://forums.collectors.com/discussion/972772/pcgs-cert-verification-slab-image

These are done in the Paris, Hong Kong and Shanghai offices as well as the Paris Express and Hong Kong Express service levels. This has replaced the old Secure scans at these locations.

It's interesting that some of these coins have PCGS Secure / Gold Shield since I thought that was supposed to get you a full TrueView, not a slab image. If you don't want these, don't get your TrueViews at those offices.

Oooooof. This cannot make any sense that PCGS will morph from a TrueView to a SlabView.

Trust me, this will not happen.

This. US office gets TrueViews. We’re working on better photography for our other offices.

If you have any issues with your images let me know. We’re a bit backlogged getting images online as my staff has had to deal with the increased workload and, unfortunately, some illnesses. Contact us at photography@collectors.com if you have any other inquiries.

I believe there is an open position at PCGS Photo and in the job description was travel to the non-US offices. Those slab pics are equivalent to the old rough scans you used to get for free on the cert page when using the ”secure” (now Gold Shield) service if you didn’t buy a True View. So, I bet there are plans to roll out US-style True Views to the foreign offices, but it just hasn’t happened yet.

  • Good to know it's not a USA thing! I love my trueview's just the way they are ....

I can’t be the only one that prefers this to the old style.

It would be nice to have both; high definition image of the coin itself and the full slab view. If it is one or the other...the choice is clear.

Looks more like a Cert Verification scan then a Tru-View.

I thought one of the standards of True-View was to get a high quality photograph outside of the slab. I would want my money refunded if I paid for True-View and got the result shown in the OP.

The TruView we have all known and prefer is certainly the most desirable.... The 'other' could be of value if one is questioning the validity of a slab. Cheers, RickO
