Morgan Silver Dollars for well under spot price of silver on eBay - why?
A friend asked me to purchase a few common Morgan silver dollars - I was shocked to see many completed ebay listings close for .99 and free shipping. Isn't the silver value alone in a Morgan dollar about $15? Can I really buy them for .99?

Really? No one has stated the obvious yet? (Hint: Fake.)The ones ABCDE posted are fakes but the one in the original OP was likely supposed to be an auction but accidentally did buy it now. I see the seller has a negative for that item.

It's gone.
I suspect the seller intended to have an auction, beginning at $.99. When he/she noted the error, they withdrew it.
Here's a warning parable for coin collectors...
They are still there. Just $1.10 now (with free shipping).

Thank everyone - there were so many completed auctions ending for less than the silver value I was just curious as to what was going on. No real coin experience. Obviously, will buy from known and high feedback eBay sellers.
At least now I know where to go for a Morgan Yuan 1881.

They are priced at “under melt” only if the value of base metal has risen dramatically.
Just garbage.... If you want them for golf markers or target practice, then buy them... they are not coins. Cheers, RickO
