What grade would you give this 1964 Kennedy.

Ok, so I have 20 1964 Kennedy half dollars. Braden, the good friend, he has a beautiful 1792 Half disme, whom I obtained these coins from years back had them in a lock box since 1964.

I've only took them out twice since I purchased them. I've been thinking about selling them and having them graded.

As PCGS graded MS 67 coins at auctions can bring in some good money, especially in the last 2-3 years as Kennedy's popularity and interest in him has been high.

Especially with all the new info that was released not long ago. I'v got a picture one of them.

I've also got pictures of two MS67 1964 Kennedy's so you can compare them from the last 3 years that sold for 1,410 and 998.75, respectively.

Obviously, I'm not asking if these would fetch the same price as it would be pure speculation.

Rather, I would like to gather a general consensus on if I should have them graded. Obviously, because the price fetched by a PCGS MS67 will be a lot more.

That's if they are even MS67.

Also, I would like to apologize about any lighting issues with the pictures I took of my coins.

    Here's some MS66, to see the difference between a 67 and 66.

I think in wear and tear mine are definitely capable of getting a MS67.

To me it all lies in if the Strike was precise and deep enough, as these MS67's are.

I'd say your closer to 64 then a 67. Keep in mind though I'm just a novice and amazed at all the overgrades regularly handed out by the TPGs.

No way in THIS world is that a 67. I'd say a 64 at best.

@BlueVelvet999.....Welcome aboard.....Your coin is an MS64..... the difference between your coin and the slabbed coins is very clear. If that is the best of your 20 halves, then really not worth sending in for grading. Cheers, RickO

I don't know how that slabbed example ever made 67.

Thanks for welcoming me to the board and for the fast replies it's much appreciated.

While the general consensus is that it's not a MS67, it is pretty unanimous that it's a MS64, like in this picture only mine aren't DDO, but regular strike.

At that it definitely would not be worth grading. Those generally go from 11-50 a piece, which is what you'll get for them anyway.

Since all 20 are basically interchangeable as far as looks and I'm still thinking about selling them.

At that range 220(11$)-1000(50$) would be a good selling price and more toward the lower end of the numbers.

I also have an interest in Kennedy halves, and have a few. I think the difference between your example and those slabbed and graded as 66 or 67 is in the quality of the luster. Notice the satin or finely textured, smooth and symmetrical look of luster in those higher graded coins. Imho this is where the difference lies. Welcome to our group!

I'm not sure I'd go with 67 on that first one. The chatter on the cheek, neck, and field above the date seems to be too much.

I thought the same thing. In regards to your coin, the fingerprint will doom it, IMHOP.

I don't see any of them being a true 67. And I owned a pair of them at one time.

Welcome, I doubt your coins will grade higher than 64.

ANY fingerprinted coin is doomed as far as I'm concerned. A barely noticeable FP on a coin can turn beastly in no time.

The 'hit' above the 6 in the date relegates this coin to 64/65 status.

If you are wanting to sell the roll we do have a Buy/Sell/Trade forum here. Just post them for sale there and eliminate any ebay fees. You can check what the rolls sell for on ebay completed sales to find the $$$$ amt.
My guess would be somewhere around $140 for the roll delivered.

PS: melt is about $125 per roll of 20.
