January 1st New Years trade. New $20 gold!

I started the year off with a sweet trade.
I was eyeballing this $20 liberty. I traded an ounce of palladium (maple leaf) and 21 ozs of miscellaneous .999 silver bullion. (10 oz sunshine bar and 11 rounds/eagles mix) for the $20 liberty.
Good trade? What do you guys think?

I don't know what other PM folks think of the trade, but I prefer gold and your coin looks terrific.

Twenty Libs are always great looking coins when they look like that.
Nice. The coin is what a gold coin is supposed to look like as it has not been dipped and has that honey gold look.
I gave my wife a $20 1904 for our twentieth anniversary. Looked next to the phone and saw the coin sitting on the counter.
At least I did not forget.
Based on the spot prices today, I think you did well! Nice hunk-o-gold!

Very nice... my preference in PM's is always gold.... and silver. Cheers, RickO
Trading the premium of that palladium piece for the quality’s of an older holder nice MS $20 seems like a good deal. I haven’t worked out the math on your deal but I like your coin.

Nice coin.
From the shadows and angle of the sun, it looks like you got it right at the break of dawn. Definitely the first deal of the new year. Good work.
nice, except for the hit or whatever on the nose

Fair enough.... But remember, once you go for the gold, it's nearly impossible to stop. I love the pursuit of happiness in this field.

As the new owner of the 1oz Palladium in question, I'm happy and think you got a great looking $20 Lib out of the deal.

Collecting gold coins that have been stored for over a hundred years commands you accept the fact that a rub from another coin is going to be there. Look at the type one $20 up for auction and many look like they were shot with a dove load at 20 yards. Just the way they are.
agreed, but it should affect the grade

I agree, bag marks are a part of life on these.
However, on the nose that's actually a trick of the light, a reflection from the sunlight I assume because there's really no hits there.

Looks real clean for a 63. Nice trade....both parties satisfied.
That's what it's all about.

That is good news.

For circulation strikes wear is purported to be 85% and eye appeal the remainder eye appeal, Its all relevant to the coin in question. i have seen type one $20 ( 1861 O ) slabbed as a 55 and it had abrasions all over the coin. I suspect the south moved the New Orleans coins around to keep them out of union hands and it shows as there very few that are attractive and the lower portion of the date extremely weak. Its just the way they are and the TPGs factor this in when grading. Take a look at what Heritage has in their archives and you will see what I mean.
