There have been a number of threads on this seller around this same topic... so you are probably right!
Why do you think PCGS straight graded it though ?
Looking at this and the other listings from this seller, I'd say that he is in the "better coins through chemistry" business.
Rubbish... There are much more attractive AT coins out there... this one is just butt ugly. If you are going to pay premiums for artificial tarnish, at least pay for the good ones... Cheers, RickO
A lot!
Poster child for an AT coin.
What a beaut!..and deserving of someone's hard earned cash.....................NOT!!!

They didn't. At least not when it looked that way.
The talk has been about this seller gassing coins in-the-slab and even, occasionally, resubmitting them for reholdering and TrueViews (to enhance the deception). In some cases PCGS appears to have learned of it and has killed the certs.

If that is the case, then I ask why hasnt PCGS done something to protect their slabs, their brand and their reputation? Tampering with their slabs would be rather easy to prove. Has anyone here bought one of these coins and examined the slab under a normal microscope?
I find it hard to fathom that they would allow someone to repeatedly tamper with their slabs without doing anything.
PCGS isnt exactly lawsuit adverse. Here's a lawsuit they filed over copyright infringement over CoinFacts. This isnt even a very good or strong lawsuit but none-the-less they filed it.

@TonerGuy I agree! The intent to deceive is there, but who and where are missing.

Who and where is easy to find out with a lawsuit. PCGS sends a subpoena to Ebay and they will know who the seller is and where he/she lives...
Do you think these coins were also tampered with in the slab ? If so then there is a huge problem with numerous sellers being able to tone coins in PCGS slabs... if there are two there are 20 people doing it...
Or do you think that PCGS straight graded these ?

The latest PCGS slabs are more tamper resistant and, finally, airtight which should help a lot.
I couldn't say what more PCGS might be doing on the matter but I am certain it has their attention and they are very aware of the importance of the security of their holders and their market reputation.

TonerGuy:
Your last coin shown above was not gased in the holder. (It appeared as such raw before being graded.)
About all that they can do is deal with it as it arises. Too many non-airtight slabs out there to do anything else but react.
Im not saying it was. I am actually questioning the probability of toning coins within the holders...
I havent seen evidence of such... if someone can post a video of it being done or if someone has bought a "toned in the slab coin" and can post pics of the drill holes in the plastic, I might believe it. There are people on this board that can take super-close up pics of double dies -- someone can easily photograph drilled and sealed holes in a slab.
Either way though... PCGS has an AT coin problem. Either they are straight grading QT coins or they are not bothering to stop "slab doctors" from toning coins within their holders.
Older slabs did not need to be drilled they were only sealed at the corners. I have had a few the I could slip a piece of paper into and get to the center.

who says there are no more bargains on ebay
Are you talking about slabs less than 2 years old ?
This isnt just an older slab issue... here's a edynamicmarketing toned coin in a generation 6.0 holder from 2015 or later (according to PCGS's Museum of Coin Holders)
