    Nada

Q: When does a collector become a numismatist?

A: The year they spend more on their library than their coin collection.

A numismatist is judged more on the content of their library than the content of their cabinet.

I honestly don't think you should do guess the grade on coins from pictures you snag from the internet!

1st and foremost you can not interject your opinions on aspects of the coin when asked as you don't have the coin in hand!

2nd Don't know if it violates any rules.

3rd You can't supply additional pictures if requested!

If I'm going to guess, I would say AU53

I'd have to guess AU-55 possibly AU Details. Something about the satin like surfaces that is bugging me.

It's a really pretty, desirable coin. From the pictures at least. Who cares what the "grade" is? I don't.

If I had to guess based on the picture, I'd say 63, even though it looks like someone tried to subdue the hairline scratch on the cheek.

Obverse looks MS 64ish, reverse shows issues leading me to think wear meaning high AUish. Need to see that in hand.

Love it as an MS 64* in pictures Does the star represent a sticker or a plus ? + & Equivalency ? Who knows. It’s not in hand. It would do me good to see it that way.

You are correct....I neglected to vote, so probably don't deserve a say. ;)

Not a big Barber guy, and I saw a wide variation (in my head) based on the photo. So I elected to sit and watch for the "punchline". But after it was said and done, I wasn't sure why we were asked?! ;)

But a good GTG is always appropriate.....

It has good eye appeal and color......much better than the Barber in your other thread with the reeding marks (MS 63).

I was just concerned that there MAY be some friction on that cheek.

Difficult to grade from just a picture....it's likely fine.

Many times dark patches and irregularities come from storage---when the coin comes in contact with paper 2 X 2 envelope. These coins must be seen in hand.

Overall, I really like the coin, too.

The shadowy patch on the cheek is not in a natural pattern. Not that it's impossible that it's natural, but it's unlikely. And when you notice the scratch on the cheek and how the shadowy patch is perfectly perpendicular to the scratch, it becomes reasonably obvious that the patch was applied to subdue the scratch. Although I wouldn't swear to it based on the picture, I can tell you that I've seen (in hand) thousands of coins with that sort of doctoring. It's very recognizable, once you know what to look for. That said, the scratch and the doctoring is probably not "fatal", and 64 could indeed be the best grade for the coin. To make that judgement, I'd need to see it in person.

BTW, the scratch and shadow are only visible in the large image in the OP. And if you don't see it, trying tilting the screen in the light. Seriously.
