When ur not looking for that coin, sometimes it comes along...

I've been collecting Roosies for several yrs, and after all this time I still needed a 1957 MS66FB or higher. This dime is somewhat elusive in FB's. I passed up 1 I didn't like and got outbid on a really nice one a couple of months ago.
Now I wasn't searching for one, but a seller on the PCGS Set Registry Forum had 3 of them, so I bought them all.
It's amazing what comes around when ur not looking...
Anything like this happen to you?

Lots. When it rains it pours.
P.S. but in my case only after I overpay for a compromise example.
For sure!
Ah yes.... Coin collecting is not for the impatient...and the cost of impatience has been felt by most of us... especially early in our hobby years. Patience is often rewarded by both quality and price..... At this point, I would add, that for most of us, patience is a learned (sometimes painfully) virtue.

Yes, but why all 3?
Absolutely agree. I do tons of searching with nothing avail in my target grades etc. Sometimes I search images and see a great coin and when I click on it it sold already and sometimes just a few days before... This all builds up knowledge for when something comes up it makes it a confident and more enjoyable to buy. The key for me is to always have some money set aside just in case so I'm not scraping up cash from every corner to get something bought when it shows up,
and it will show up eventually, or I don't need it.
Also seems that coins come out when I have no money and when I have money to spend, nothing worth buying!
A couple of reasons, mainly because they are so elusive in 66FB that I thought I'd just pick up all 3. Also he didn't offer pictures (I didn't ask either) and I would just pick the best of the 3 to add to my set. If I didn't care for 1 or 2, I would sell eventually, or if I do like all 3, I would keep them as I have several dupes of dimes. I'll probably just keep them as I now have several silver Roosie sets going...

That happened to be at the last Baltimore show. I had been looking for an "old Henry VIII" for a couple of years. There not very many of them around, and what few that were offered were always in awlful condition. The "young Henry" pieces are fairly common.
"Old Henry VIII" ... not so much.
What are you asking for the first 1994-D 7FB? I might be interested...

It's just like finding a job or a girlfriend......nobody's interested, until you already have one. lol
Sometimes, it’s better to be LUCKY than good. 🍀 🍺👍
