I've never found a high grade 31-D I really liked. I guess I've looked for more than 10 years. I think it's a lot tougher than the 31-S.
This one has held my interest in the meantime.
Lance.
I concur regarding the 31-D vs. 31-S.
Your coin has a quiet dignity about it.
Very nice.
A recent acquisition ... a 1936 Satin Proof Cent. I have working on a 1936 Proof set. The grade is PCGS PR-65, Brown Satin.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

Believe it or not, this is what the coin looks like in hand. Not a glamour shot.
Most unbelievably toned Lincoln I have ever seen, many would agree. Provenance to Coppercolor, one of his favorites as well.
Some refer to overgraded slabs as Coffins. I like to think of them as Happy Coins.

Great eye candy folks!
I can’t seen to get enough of these little beauties myself. I like them with a nice even wash of color mixed with a mellowed brown base on a chiseled strike.
But who can rule out concentric rings of target toning?
I don’t rule anything out...
I must add that I think Wingedliberty’s 1914 is one of my favorites I can remember by heart.

I couldn't agree more about the 31-D versus 31-S. The 31-Ss are just hard to find well-made! I had two customers fighting over this 31-D recently. It's not the nicest toned Lincoln I've ever sold, but for a 31-D it's pretty sweet.

That's a beauty!
Probably this one, also a 1959, but I also have a couple of close seconds for the date 1960.

Beauty of a 1958!
They sometimes come with magenta/autumn leaves color, but that is WAY above the norm for the date.
Well done....
