Here is my 1958-D. Not a difficult coin by any means, but this one has nice purplish-green tones. Hard to bring out in a photo but I am working on my photography skills.

I've never found a high grade 31-D I really liked. I guess I've looked for more than 10 years. I think it's a lot tougher than the 31-S.

This one has held my interest in the meantime.
    Lance.

    I concur regarding the 31-D vs. 31-S.
Your coin has a quiet dignity about it.
    Very nice.

I couldn't agree more about the 31-D versus 31-S. The 31-Ss are just hard to find well-made! I had two customers fighting over this 31-D recently. It's not the nicest toned Lincoln I've ever sold, but for a 31-D it's pretty sweet.

    Kind regards,

    George

That's one of the nicest 31-Ds that I have seen.
    Outstanding.

This is no longer mine but has been sold to a collector who frequents these boards.

    Kind regards,

    George

    The 36 proof was $49?

  • WaterSportWaterSport Posts: 6,922 ✭✭✭✭✭

Yep, $49 with a BIN on ebay. I fully expected an "I am sorry" from the seller, but he/she followed through!

    Great streakers!
I'm putting together a set of streakers.....some dates are easy...some really tough.
I doubt I will ever finish it, but that's part of the fun. :)

I can identify with this. Many years ago when I started my Lincoln cent date set of laminated coinage, little did I realize the magnitude of the undertaking. Being naive at the outset of a project sometimes serves a purpose. Won't ever finish it, but the joy is in the chase. Keeps you hungry.

Well, this one is not my favorite, but it's worthy of notice. The toning is ... well, maybe you guys and gals could insert your own adjectives. I like it, and I also like the 1970-S Small Dates, particularly in proof format. So I couldn't resist this one when it showed up recently. As a high-grade (PR67) Red and Brown example, PCGS CoinFacts doesn't even have a page for it! It's pop 11/0 in this grade ... More importantly, the proof Small Dates have inflated populations (they are rarer than generally thought) because they were sent in in much larger proportions compared to their Large Date counterparts. Nonetheless, PCGS shows some Red examples (Cameo and not) available up to PR69.

Happy New Year all you Lincoln cent (and other numismatic) fans!

    Kind regards,

    George

Very nice @robec! I also like the 1960 proof Sm Date/Lg Date and Lg Date/Sm Date varieties. Putting together a toned set of those would probably pose a real challenge!

Here's a nice one, 1933 in MS66RB PCGS, a coin that was formerly in Abe's Coloring Book, one of the top colored Lincoln Wheat cent Registry Sets.

I love the 1932-1933 cents series anyway, as they have their own unique characteristics -- low mintages, yet general availability except in the highest Mint State grades -- and especially examples with lovely toning and luster like this one!
