I just got this and was thinking about sending it in for Pcgs reconsideration services. What do you think they would grade it? Feel free to post any and all comments. Thanks.

I think about 45 also. I see very little wear on the hair under LIB and the top edge of the gown. seems to be enough luster. I always struggle with grading these when the dies are worn and uneven and strike issues mimic wear.
I’m only seeing it on my phone, but I think it may have a shot at 50, which is perhaps what you are thinking too?

Perhaps it's the image ... the obverse field in front of Liberty looks wiped.

Guys if you will take a look at the area above Liberty. I was just looking at it closely and noticed it looks like the tops of the letters are in the folds of the cap. Is that common on these? Also I will say that the obverse is what is holding this coin from an AU grade. There is very little actual wear on this and the luster is nice, although my old I-phone pics do not show it well. There are a couple old pin scratches and dings on the neck that really kept it from a higher grade.
I think you're in the flat strike "lottery", plus with the light scratches, I think it's 40-45.

I don't recall seeing the top letters of LIBERTY like that before. So I don't think it's common. The question is whether it's from a double strike or a loose obverse die. Pretty cool!
I agree that the coin has AU details but I figured the blunter-than-normal obverse, coupled with some unfortunate hits/scratches, would cost it a grade.

My grade: XF-45
Here is the wiggle: The coin has too many parallel HLNS from old cleaning. Nevertheless, IMO, a TPGS will still grade it AU-something. Perhaps as high as AU-55 if detailed or "net" AU-50 if it is straight graded. There appear to be some vertical scratches on the neck. This may get it down to XF.
I've talked myself down to a PCGS straight graded XF-45 but I hope the AU guesses are correct.

Nice coin overall and really intetesting LIBERTY feature, looking forward to better pictures of that area.
As far as grade, it would be a 70, if it just had a perfect strike and luster, no trace of wear, and no marks at all. But of course all grades below 70 are "Net" of such qualities.
Looks 50, maybe 53 at first, until one sees the marks and scratches at the neck, probably contemporaneous and minor enough to be market acceptable at 45.

Pretty coin. I'm thinking XF45 net grade after the hairlines on the obverse and the vertical lines on the neck are taken into account. How those are interpreted might be the difference between XF45 and AU50-53.
If you feel it could grade higher than it is today don't waste money on a reconsideration (which imposes an additional fee for an upgrade based on its value) unless the holder is important to you. I can't tell if it's an OGH.
Also remember that PCGS doesn't like grading through plastic and tends to be conservative.
Instead, have it "regraded". No premium fee, its current grade is protected/guaranteed, it will be graded raw for the best shake, and you'll get a modern holder. (IMO the newest holders are far superior to earlier ones.)

My impression from the initial images was XF/AU. The reverse by itself would easily be AU but there’s enough wear and/or flatness on the obverse to keep it around XF.
With the new photos, I think AU isn’t very likely.
Yeah, I was also late.....45 would have been my grade also.
AU55/XF. The reverse looks great some dustractions on the observe. But overall good coin.

Ok guys I bought this thinking it would upgrade to au-50, but after getting it I do not think it will. It is technically AU, but there are 2 scratches that were not visible in the sellers pictures that cause this to be a coin I would not want to keep for the amount of $$$ I would have in it. I have also taken a closer look at the area above Liberty and think it is just toning or something. I am not going to be keeping this coin. Thanks for your comments.

My first blush was 45 shot 50. If there are scratches that don't show in the pics that may well help to keep her at 45.
AU-50. This date comes with strike issues. I see enough luster to justify an AU grade. I have a similar piece in my collection that is graded AU-53. I based this on the first set of pictures.
The second set of pictures give the coin a bit of a washed-out look with respect to luster that makes it look more like an EF-45 with some luster left between the devices.
Now that I've seen this coin on my desktop monitor, I agree with 45... the wear on Liberty's neck wasn't so apparent on my phone screen... nice coin!
