My world just changed a little bit!!

I've been on an old Internet plan with Time Warner who recently changed to Spectrum so I did a "Speed Test" to see where I was at: came back at about 25mbp. I called up Spectrum and for a mere $5/month they upgraded me.
The new Speed Test I just ran is at 110mbp!!! Things might start moving a little faster.

Welcome to the 21st Century
Latin American Collection
I can remember when we though a 12mhz machine was blistering fast. Now, if you have to wait three seconds, you become impatient and downright pissed.
Cheers
Bob
We actually want the screen back before we hit enter!

Congrats @keets

I remember Napster in the 90's, dial up, downloading at 56K.
"Alright, 45 minutes and I'll have this song!"
my first PC had an 8gb hard-drive. I can remember downloading with a phone modem for half an hour, losing the signal and having to start all over again. we are spoiled today, indeed.
Hey, your first post isn't about coins......foul......just kidding. Welcome to the jungle!
That was still way faster than listening to American Top 40 for four hours so that you could dub a song from radio to cassette.
@keets Congrats on the upgrade.
In the early 1980's I remember the modems that transmitted at 1,200 bits/sec and when they went up to 9,600 bits/sec in the early 1990's I thought that was fast. The amount of data that gets transferred today in a few seconds is incredible.
Edited to add: My first computer was a TRS-80 that I bought in late 1979 or early 1980. It had 4KB of storage space. That was only about 2 type written pages in length.

Must have been an 8mb hard drive, in that era, I think!
Still it was a big upgrade over the 2 floppy or 1 floppy systems....
Remember this ?

@DIMEMAN, Thanks, been following this group and the posters for years.
Your dime posts are among my favorites, really enjoy your pics of the upgrades.
I'm glad you found some beauties after the sale of your beloved others.
What? You guys aren't on dialup through AOL?
I know very little about internet speed but just did a test and I came back at 10 Mbps,,,,
Is Mbps the same as Mbp?
If so I am slow,,,,,,,, but it is the fastest I have ever had.
Awesome! Bet those large photos looks sweeter now!
How does it feel not to have to hear this anymore Keets!
Welcome to the future. I can remember 33mhz and trying to play Duke Nukem and it freezing up if you went into a room with too much texture on the walls. The build program worked awesome from that CD. Rise of the Triad, Wolfenstein, and Doom all DLd from a floppy worked great. mIRC and ICQ were nice but ICQ would crash every single time if you tried talking instead of texting. Had fun in those days but I'd lose my patience if I had to go back.

Your world will change even more once you upgrade your green screen monitor!

We have the technology to get it at the speed of light, but...

yeah, the CS rep told me 300mb for an extra $40/month!!!
Next, you can upgrade your phone.
@keets.... Welcome to the new world of speed...
Since we are reminiscing, my first computer was a floppy disk DEC Robin.... and I taught myself BASIC on that .... When I upgraded to a 105MB tower I thought to myself... 'Wow... I will never use all that memory.'...
... Now, of course, we are truly in a different world... and imagine what it will be like in twenty years...... The avalanche of technology is incredible, and will not stop. You will see chip implants (already starting), and I just read an article on chip brain implants....already reality.
Our 'Brave New World'.... Can anyone see the 'Borg' coming??? Cheers, RickO
IMO we were all better off with more active physical economies, the internet has made people "smarter" but more passive.
I used to have one of these. 300 baud modem baby!!
-
Wabbit, the originals of those were 110 baud.
Broadstruck, that IBM unit with the 10MB HD was $6000.
I remember dial up.

I have no idea what he just said.
I would love to have 25 Mb speeds. I'm at 9.8 down and 0.8 up
