    That's a piece of ...........................................................silver.

    UGLY is kind.

    bob :)
    When there are so many nice 78cc's, I can imagine this going for a lot less than guide.

  • It’s not attractive in those pics, but may look decent enough when tilted under light?

    I bought this PCGS MS 65 for $85 sixteen years ago. It is my dad's birth year.

    I wanted to learn about window sill toning so I cracked it and sat it there for 30 months.

    Here's the result. Do you like it? I don't. Sometimes toning doesn't develop as you hope.

    @Ikeigwin
    The toning doesn’t enhance the coin. If anything it makes the coin look worse.

    Here's one ugly '93-CC I bought from a bullion shop for $75.00. I flipped it pretty quick and made a little on it. :)

    Getting a coin to tone naturally is dicey and tricky. You don't always get what you want. I've gotten the best results from storing a coin in an old coin envelope that was not quite sulfur free.

    The Gimbals coin store used them as the inner envelope for their inventory system. The outer envelopes were sent back to headquarters and re-used after the sold coin was sold. You got the inner envelope when you bought the coin. I used them to re-tone copper and silver coins, and it often worked well. The trouble was that system did not quite provide 100% results, and it took a few years.

    Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

    There are many ugly old Morgans out there.... I have a few (even ugly coins need love)..... Much like a stray puppy, I have given some shelter....and they stayed. ;) I have a soft spot for the big silver coins and if I see one at a 'giveaway' price, I will usually pick it up. Cheers, RickO
