I have one quite similar that was returned unc details across the street, 10 years ago. I still like it.

I voted MS64 due to the lack of luster on the reverse and the grazing on the portrait.

major contrast between obv and rev - hence a detail grade.

Details grade. Possible environmental damage on the reverse.

The obverse is the type of original, streaky-skinned toning that PCGS loves to call MS66/MS67 and, with lots of color, MS68. However, the reverse is really tough for me to get my head around. If those diagonal marks within the background toning are some type of gunk then I could see the coin coming back as ED for the reverse. The remainder of the reverse, though, would likely be enough to give the coin an MS66 grade.

Since I do not know the nature of the diagonal marks, I will say it graded MS66, but that unless the reverse is significantly nicer in-hand than the images suggest that the coin would be worth less than a typical MS66.

My vote was 65 based on the reverse being the hold back. I have a sneaking suspicion the coin looks better in hand.

I am in the 65 crowd.
Could easily see it as a 64 or 66 though.
As @fcloud said, I think it has better eye appeal in hand.

The reverse is hard to tell. I would not be surprised if it said ED however I am thinking it should make a grade. With the marks on the obverse and the dark reverse I am guessing 64.

I don't like it. There are scratches on Miss Liberty's face, The obverse has what imo is unattractive streaky toning, and I won't put what I think happened to the coin's reverse out of respect to the coin's owner. I'd grade it an MS 63.

Wow......I would buy coins this nice at 64 ALL DA LONG. I voted 67 (based on pic) not seeing any marks. Love the color.

I'm not seeing that at all. But we are going by a pic.

Looks like it spent decades in an old coin folder. I voted 64.

MS64...... just looks like some scratches and maybe ED.... probably not, but looks dicey... Cheers, RickO

I would say 65, the reverse is a toss up as to how it would grade. Hope it cam back straight graded as there are spots on the reverse where the luster pops through nicely.

Probably was in an album (the push the coin in type) the reverses can indeed look that different from the paper and glue, etc.

    Still a nice coin!

    Bump for the Grade.

The lighting in the grading room is plentiful. The Graders can see what's under the toning. I'm guessing MS 65. It's ugly, but not really ugly.

I finally got some time to come back to this...voted yesterday but had to run and didn't type out a response.
I did (honestly) vote MS66. Reading the responses now, I won't reiterate why because it was largely for the reasons that TomB already posted.

I will, however, add that, from the original pics, I thought I could see luster poking through, even on the reverse, which is why I went with MS66

That reverse must look a lot better in-hand than it does in the photo.
