    On the post-1982 coins, they look like plating bubbles and other plating anomalies- common on those coins.

    This, on many zinc plated cents the force of the strike will cause the plating to separate slightly from the core, which can give the appearance of doubling. In some cases you will even see the zinc core visible through small fractures in the plating. This is considered incidental damage along the lines of strike doubling, and has no added value.

    Thats a good book been looking for a reasonablepriced copy but cannot find one.Hard to find the last one the 4th edition like you have pictured.

    Wish it could be reprinted and updated but the author is deceased.
