One of my modern heroes is Winston Churchill.... He was a great leader in a dark period. He was also a witty person and I have used many of his quotes to help me in situations. I have this large medallion that I keep prominently in my 'man cave'.

    I believe he means old school, right click image: "copy" then right click text box "paste". RickO, you can do the same thing with drag and drop also.

    Churchill's father was British (the second son of a non-royal Duke) and his mother was American. Supposedly Churchill once told the U.S. Congress in an invited formal address that 'had my father had been American and my mother had been British, I might have been standing before you addressing you in my own right' or words to that effect.

    Late in life, Churchill was granted the title 'Honorary Citizen of the United States'.

    Ricko, I agree he was a giant of a man. Many of the global events that we're living through today, he predicted in the 1890's. Did you know that the revision of history in the United Kingdom is under way the same as it is happening here? Churchill is getting the Robert E. Lee treatment across the pond. What a shame. What a tragedy.

    @bolivarshagnasty..... It is 2 3/4 inches in diameter, and an eighth of an inch thick... a hefty hunk of bronze. Cheers, RickO

    Yes, you are right. I visited the Churchill War Rooms in London last year and they have his US passport on display.

    Hence, the U.S. seal on the medal, I suppose.

    I dont have the full quote but one his best was a takedown of a female MP. Something about we have established what you are, and are now just haggling over the price.

    The medal shown also exists in bronze and silver at a 30-ish millimeter size. Except for the small size, it is thick and struck up like a table medal. I have a bronze here somewhere and have owned silver in the past.

    Reportedly the 'ugly' quip was addressed to Nancy Astor (Lady Astor), who was an American by birth and the second female member elected to Parliament (House of Commons). She was considered an "iffy" sort of personality, but later she and her husband acquitted themselves wonderfully by their public service during WWII.

    I think the dual emblems on the back signify Winston's parents. His mom was an American.

    Nah, that's way older than Churchill. I'm recalling his responding to a female MP who noted
    "Sir, if you were my husband I would serve you poison" and Churchill's riposte
