Seller says this Morgan is a proof.....I say BS (business strike!)

AUandAGAUandAG Posts: 24,944 ✭✭✭✭✭

I politely sent a message indicating that this dollar does not have the markers for the proof dollar of this day....this was 3 days ago.
I've not heard from him and the price just keeps getting higher. Okay, it is a nice PL Morgan but is it a proof?
bob:)

I agree with your calling BS on this one.
Looks PL, but not a proof.

...kinda like a crazy Irishman who has never stepped foot in a professional boxing ring, challenging the greatest "boxer" whom ever lived to a professional boxing match...and all his crazy followers, wagering everything in their pockets that says he wins...eBay is full of suckers...on both sides ;)

Doesn't look like it has the characteristics of a proof to me. Compare to the pics for this date on CoinFacts.

    PL business strike

It's a very exceptional business strike, but if he wants to sell it as a Proof, he'll have to get it certified. If it comes back as a Proof, some people will believe it.

The bidders are unfortunately treating it like a proof. It is now slightly north of $800.

Not only is it not a proof, it is not even PL. Not by today's standards anyway.

the irony is that it wouldn't cac with that grade/designation...which pretty much validates what cac does.

Most of the apparent proof like fields are probably imparted by the cellophane in the holder.
