PCGS should do offer a 70+ for a limited time only , then flippers will mail a few million moderns in for reconsideration, step 2 ........ just toss all that garbage in the nearest landfill where it belongs

They don't assign a plus for the 69 grade. It would be kind of like splitting a micro hair.
Why not? There are a few ms69 Morgans, no?
So if a 69+ should be added then how do you go about defining the grade? An MS/PR 69 is defined as imperfections only visible with the aided eye. An MS/PR 70 is defined as no visible imperfections with the aided eye. I believe the graders use a 5X loupe for the grading process.

You mean like a 58+ ?
I don't agree. The difference between a great 69 and MS70 must be inconsequential. I'd argue the 69+ might even be better. It was looked at closer.
The difference between 58 and 58+ is a lot more dramatic, in my experience. I have something like 100 AU58 bust halves. Around a dozen are 58+. The 58+'s are clearly superior. I'd call many of them mid-MS, were it not for the slightest issue like rub.
Maybe it's different for other series...a 58+ is a 58 from a happy grader?
Lance.
I have seen some nice AU58's and some that leave me scratching my head. I never have seen a 58+ in hand, so I guess that when I do it better blow my mind.

Great Idea! Love it! Especially those presidential dollar and several ATB quarters...

Don't see why they wouldn't do a 69+. It's equally valid as doing 68+ and 67+ and 66+ .... etc. The lofty grade of 69 should not preclude a +.
Explanation was that the difference between the two grades (69, 70) was too tight.

Unfortunately there aren't any ms70 Morgans nor are there likely to be. Take all of the Morgans currently graded ms69 and give the nicest one a +. IMO you can't hold a ms70 Morgan to the same standards as a ms70 silver eagle.

Why only a SINGLE plus sign?
Doesnt anyone read eBay feedbacks?
You're right. With grade inflation, I guess the base grade can be for "C" coins, one plus for "B" coins, and two pluses for "A" coins. We could also start adding the coveted triple plus designation for coins that really deserve a higher grade, but the TPGS refuses until the tenth submission.
OK... now this makes no sense.... how can the difference between 69 and 70 be too close for a + grade.... All the other grades are also ONE DIGIT APART!!! Or is this some sort of a bubble scale, where the 'inch' at the end is much smaller than the 'inches' in the middle?? How ridiculous that sounds.... If there cannot be a plus between 69 and 70, than there is no justification for a plus between any other two numbers. If that statement is incorrect, than the entire grading scale is in question - something many of us have suspected anyway.

RickO is right , if you can do it at 68 or 58 then you can do it at 69.
The only remedy is to remove all the pluses that are out there now.
Everyone who owns a + graded coin please mail a SASE to your grading service and they will mail you back a small tube of white-out....... if its a toner coin please note that and they will send you a tube of tone-out instead.

Nope. They don't give a plus grade at 69 or 70.

A 70 plus would be a good marketing gig as most of the 70's have lost their price advantage.

Good answers
Didn't someone talk about a grading scale 1-100 at one time ?

Yes that one too.

Never seen a 69+

Most people can't tell a 69 from a 70 so why bother with a 69+.
Give it a few years when they are looking for new streams of revenue. I guess millions of bullion coins would be resubmitted for the coveted 69+.

69 AND 70 look the same to me anyway.
