Perhaps Mr. Bill is sick. One poster found this coin on the Internet (not me) and discovered its grade. Perhaps he or another member will post the grade tomorrow if Mr. Bill does not.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

That's micro grading! Yes, there is rub on the high points of the coin. Photograph it in fluorescent light and the loss of original surface will "jump" out and we'll all see it. That's why using florescent light to examine a coin is taboo.
Nevertheless, aren't you a well established professional commercial grader rather than a technical grader. If I remember correctly, you love the strike on this coin. So I don't know. What's the value of this coin? Would you price it as an AU or a MS-63 as many here have including the TPGS that saw it raw?

Please send to me all of the examples you have like this at AU money. I will come out of retirement as a dealer.

Come on Mr.Bill, the knuckle (among other places on your coin) has lost its original surface. Furthermore, your statement smacks me as "nanny, nanny, na, na. In the opinion of most of us, your coin is an MS-63 and you can't buy one like it as an AU unless you rip-off some old widow or ignorant collector. Our beloved Grinch - The colonel - is neither.

The idea that anyone took this as seriously dumping on this coin astounds me. I was the first post praising it.
Does a wink mean nothing any more? "
These words mean something and it was true: "There is rub all over the knuckle of the eagle's right-facing central claw."
Nevertheless, the fact that it is true does not change the grade. I saw the rub also yet can still grade the coin 63. This kind of exchange takes place in a classroom setting all the time. I've been taught to (ideally) see everything there is to see on a coin in order to arrive at a grade. Most of the time my opinion is too strict so I've learned over time to back off as was the case with the OP's coin.
I have a lot of respect for the professional graders/instructors who can look me in the eye and say this coin is technically..... for these reasons, yet it is going to be commercially graded as .....for these reasons.
What he said which was what I had intended to post since I was ready to defer to joebb21's opinion from prior experience. 63 works, though joebb21 is probably still more correct in adding a plus.
Absolute grading on coins like this is overrated. As Boosbri correctly states it's in the top time of this issue available. The coin is sweet. That's my grade.

The babe on the beach is "sweet." The coin is a 63.
I can put a grade on it but it has already been posted many times. I like the coin very much as it has that honey gold look to it as it does not seem to ever been dipped or cleaned.

My guess would be AU55, but I know very little about gold. It just looks like there is slight wear on the high points to me.
I do like the coin though.

Nice coin and better than 80% extant for the grade, the truly special examples rarely are seen.
