It's a VERY SAD TIME for DIMEMAN......

I have decided to sell off some of my Dimes. After a long deliberation I had to choose which series of Dimes to sell. I decided on the Seated series. I put this on the BS&T also and here is a link to the set. Any serious offers will be considered. Thanks in advance.

Very sorry to hear this, it must be difficult. I hope you have a good sale. Good luck!!
I don't collect dimes but I know you have some real beauties! You're going to make some buyers VERY happy.
Sorry to hear this Dimeman. Coins are a good back up when money is needed.
Sorry to hear that. Good luck with everything!!!
U.S. Type Set
Sorry to hear, but a lesson to keep only "silly" money in coins.
Hard to stick to, but I've seen this situation too many times.
I'd suggest using the coins as COLLATERAL for a loan if you really want to keep them.
Good luck and better fortune.
Sorry to hear this.
You'll probably make out great selling these, and it won't be such a sad day after all. Best of luck!
Made an offer on 3 of his Roosies to help him out. Also with an offer to buy back once things improve.
Best of luck Jon.
Later, Paul.
You gonna send em to that bean place?
Best of luck Jon! The comeback will be epic.

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
Hopefully you will recover and buy all those dime again!
No way that could ever happen......I have been working on those for 40+ years.
Ouch, Sorry to hear. Hopefully your dimes will alleviate your problems and then some!
Sorry to hear that.
Sorry to hear about your financial challenges that lead to you selling your coveted dimes. Your passion for dimes is remarkable. I hope you are back to where you need to be very soon.

Sorry to hear. I hope things work out.

I'm sorry to hear you must part with those coins. Looking at the set registry, they all seem very choice in nice "collector grades." I think you will do well, thanks to your good eye.
@DIMEMAN , I'm sorry to hear you need to sell, but If it is any consolation, I believe we are simply custodians of those things we like to collect and there will always come a time when we have to part ways with the things we love and perhaps the best that we can hope for is that the next owner will appreciate them as much or more. Good luck to you my friend - hang in there!
Sorry to hear this - hope you bounce back quickly!
I remember getting laid off in late 2007 and having to sell off my Barber halves
.
Jon I would try to sell that set intact if at all possible. Best wishes mark

Is it possible to sell the set intact to someone who might possibly sell it back to you in the future?
Sounds good...but I would never have that kind of money in the future.
Great Idea... Do you have a local Pawn Shop?
That is rarely the right answer.
Jon,
Sorry to hear that it is time to sell off your set. DL Hanson needs almost everyone of your varieties. I hope you get what you need out of them as you have enjoyed most of them for the past 40 years. I for one will miss your passion in finding all the Varieties. Well Done Sir...................Tom
I used to be famous now I just collect coins.

Really Sucks on all levels if you ask me.
Jon, you set a great collector example with your enthusiasm. I know your passion for collecting will always be there. Best of luck in all your decisions.

...sorry to hear this buddy...I know how you have felt about CAC in past threads so I know I risk pissing you off while you are down by offering this...BUT....I am willing to send the entire set to CAC for you. I am a collector just like you so I am only charged for coins that sticker. You have a great eye and you have worked hard for 40+ years...why not maximize your potential earnings, especially when needed? So PM me if you are interested. I live in San Diego, CA and it's about a 2 week turnaround time from start to finish. I wish you well either way @DIMEMAN
Sorry to hear this Dimeman. There will be lean times and there will be times of plenty.........
Sent ya a PM.
Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.
FWIW... I had to do this some years back as the result of a job change. Postdocs just don't make the money that Program Managers do. Fast forward 5 years... Assistant Professors make about the same as Program Managers. I've now started back to collecting again, albeit at a much slower pace. Before all of this, I recall having to sell a bunch of Morgan Dollars to satisfy a tax bill. It happens... best of luck!
Successful BST transactions with: SilverEagles92; Ahrensdad; Smitty; GregHansen; Lablade; Mercury10c; copperflopper; whatsup; KISHU1; scrapman1077, crispy, canadanz, smallchange, robkool, Mission16, ranshdow, ibzman350, Fallguy, Collectorcoins, SurfinxHI, jwitten, Walkerguy21D, dsessom.
Bummer! Best of luck to you...

What an awful time for you. I went though that years ago when I had to go back to graduate school. I didn't have to sell stuff, but I could not buy anything, and I let my subscriptions to all numismatic publications, including the Gray Sheet, lapse.
I'm genuinely sorry to hear this. You are one of the gentlemen of the hobby. This must be very difficult, but I understand that many things in life are more important...
Do take care.
Here's a warning parable for coin collectors...
Best of luck to you.
100% Positive BST transactions
Wow, you have all the varieties in the list!
Just missing the 6 keys.
The only registry collection with a higher completion % than yours is missing 5 varieties in the 1870s-1890s.
The 6 keys I am missing .....I had at one time then sold them back in 2005 when I thought I was thru collecting. I just never got them back. Same with the 16-D Merc I had in PCGS62.
Can you get them pedigreed and then CACed?
I so sorry to read this my man. It can break your heart. My day is also coming and closing in fast.
Your years of love for these beautiful dimes will pay you back generously.
I wish you all the luck in the world my brother.
Thanks Joe.
I hope you can get out from under whatever debt you have and be ready to start building your collection again. Best wishes with the sale. Impressive set.

Putting now three kids and more thru college is the demise of my collection. It happens. As noted above, nothing is forever and some things are more important.
Agree that all collections get sold eventually to include the Smithsonian's. It just sucks when it isn't on your terms.
I read on the forum recently a good perspective that might help that most of us really collect pictures and invoices while our dark and seldom visited SDBs collect coins.
My best hope for a good guy (with poor taste in football) is that the coins pull you through what ever bump has come across your path. In that case what a blessing your passion truly will be.
11.5$ Southern Dollars, The little “Big Easy” set
I would buy some to help you out (and I don't even collect them), but...to maximize your funds the en bloc sale or auction is the best. I will tell you I don't think most of these would last 5 minutes on a dealer early-bird list.
What is en bloc?
