Based only on your photo's it should be at least a 66+
But it wouldn't surprise me if it was anywhere between 65 and 67+, it seems recent grading is kind of random.
It's a gorgeous Morgan!! The fields are very clean with nice frosty devices. I think the minor frost breaks on the cheek hold it back from going 67. With this being a '79-S I think that held it back from going PL and this is a very strong semi-PL. Overall I think it got a 66+. Just a tad shy of 67.
Thanks everyone for your guesses.
Here is the result.
I'm still suprised that this did not come back a 67.
I was even thinking it had a good chance for a 67+ too.
Not PL for the designation, just really nice luster as known for this Date/MM.
The fields are just super clean.
I've seen worse coins resting in 67 holders...
The graders see so many of these in the common dates like this, the coin in the higher grades have to be super special most likely, maybe it had a little friction that is hard to see here? Cac may be worth a try because it is a major ordeal to resubmit a coin you think is undergraded.
. We usually see GTG threads for the outliers and it's hard to judge what the OP thought the grade was vs what it
received. We don't see too many GTG threads that have a 100% consensus. That's why they post the coins that they thought were either over or under graded. We have Even seen problem coins recently that got the coveted Bean.
This was no doubt a high MS Morgan, and I believe it received the right grade.
I have 2 -66+ that are no nicer but as you say compared to 67 & 68 in slabs you feel you got robbed! Grr! That is a beauty of a coin reminds me of my first ms66 1881cc

Wow-67pl
My grading vocabulary only goes up to 65....and even then, it's suspect.
So with that confidence in my grading abilities, I'll give you a +1, and call it a 66.
67 PL
67 not PL
My first impression was wow! (PS I hate Morgans)...my second impression was 67.

I don't think I have ever graded any Morgan 67. Yours is the first. Probably has a + too.

MS67
Keep the guesses comin'...I'll post the grade later tonight
I'm 65+PL.
MS65
I'll say a strong 66, on the fence for PL, very frosty devises, but the fields may hold it back.

I'll make an off the wall guess for a superlative coin: 68.

Not off the wall at all. I even tried to get there but too many tiny hits on cheek. IMO, too many for 68
66+ I don't see PL at all.
66 PL
I'm in at 67+

I'm in the 67 camp

66+ PL
Don't quote me on that.
65 or genuine altered surface
Beautiful. I'm in at 67 plus or minus a half grade. Would want to see it in-hand for the designation but it could get a PL.

Edited for redundancy.

Too much chatter about gradeflation?
Very pretty coin.
I would have said 66PL so I'm surprised it didn't get the PL designation.
